Historic houses and livestock show animals have much in common. Both the houses and the show animals have been picked as the most desirable of their class. The owners give priority care to something very special.

(A herd of Angora goats was the source of many a RONdom Thought. Sadly, a rise in predators and a decline in mohair prices resulted in their dispersal. But the memory - and columns - are still around.)

As those of you who regularly read this column know, 95% of the recipes I share with you are recipes that I’ve collected (borrowed/stolen?) over the years from friends, relatives, cook books and the internet. I always try to give credit to the person or organization that supplied me with the recipe.
We have lots going on the rest of the month, so start marking your calendars! Brown Hearing will be here on Friday, Jan. 17 from 10:00-4:00. Also, if you’re a blood donor--and I hope some of you are--plan on giving Monday, Jan. 20th. The bloodmobile will be in our south parking lot from 4:00-7:00 P.M.

Slow Cooker Sweet Jalapeño Turkey Thighs
With everyone getting back in the groove of school or just a hectic Winter schedule, I started going through my crockpot recipes. I don’t have very many that call for turkey so I thought this would be something good for a change. Since I know SOME of you are still trying to stick to your resolutions.
It is time for everyone to double their prayers for rain. We really need rain. The last storm started in the far eastern part of the county and left everyone else with a little wind.
At the Art United Methodist Church, Men’s Choir will practice January 28 at 6. The Finance Committee will have their quarterly meeting on January 29 at 5.
Class Meetings continue on Wednesday evenings at the parsonage.
Holidays Are Great,,, Done!
Since the end of November, there has been one holiday after another. Beginning with Thanksgiving, then a month of pre-holiday celebrating before Christmas and New Year's. It's a month-long period of odd schedules, altered deadlines and changes to daily routines.
This past year was unusual in that Christmas and New Year's both fell on Wednesdays.

Kudos to patriot Donald Trump for continueing to do what is right for the country in the face of opposition.
The House has done its worst and he keeps on blazing a trail through the swamp. He is freer now to keep working for the People as there is nothing more that the House can do.
Can Children and Adults Worship Together
Some eyes turned, all ears tuned in, as the baby's wails echoed off the church walls and into the pews and pulpit, distracting the preacher in mid-sermon, and the worshippers in mid-worship.
