Two Mason High School seniors, Grace Chapman and Ryli Ruffin, competed at the State UIL Congress Meet held in the State Capital in Austin on January 8-10. UIL Congress is an event that is comprised of two days of debate, with students following parliamentary procedure to debate on proposed bills. The Board of Trustees of MISD met for their regular meeting on January 22, 2018 at the High School Library. Board President Jeff Durst called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with members Tommy Bierschwale, Jim Bob Smith, Julio Ramon, Tina Cantu-Navarro, Treg Hudson and Kathryn Martin in attendance.
Last week, the JV Punchers took on San Saba and Junction. Against San Saba, the Punchers started out on a very hot finishing the first quarter with a lead of 16-7. The Armadillos stormed back in the second quarter to take a 24-21 lead at half. That lead was extend in the third.
Over 500 youth participated in the 2018 Food Challenge competition held on Wednesday, January 24th in San Angelo, Texas. District 7 4-H and San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo teamed up to host the largest Food Challenge competition to date in the area. Food Challenge is the fastest growing 4-H event across the state of Texas!
Need extra money for college? Scholarships are available for students who are part of a Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) member-family, County Farm Bureau President Shannon Worrell said. The deadline for applications is before midnight on March 1. Several scholarships are available for both high school students and enrolled college students, including one-time scholarships and recurring semester-based assistance.
