Back in 2016, the University of Interscholastic League decided to begin offering the opportunity for cheerleading teams across the state to display their sideline activities in a competitive environment. The competition consists of four different events, much like a track meet. The events include Fight Song, Crowd Leading (Cheer), Band Dance, and Game Day.
The Mason Puncher Band will be having it’s annual auction this Saturday, January 27th, in the band hall at the high school. It will be broadcast live over the air on KHLB 102.5. Something new this year is we will be putting the items out to view on Friday during the basketball games.
As 2018 rolled in, did you challenge yourself to start a new healthy habit? Get fit? Spend more time with friends or loved ones? Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Mason ISD are inviting community members to join in the effort to walk 830 miles across Texas. Walk Across Texas is a fun and flexible exercise program that fits every schedule and lifestyle.
Last Friday the JV Punchers started district with a thriller against Harper that did not end in their favor. The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead which they kept for most of the game. The Punchers, being down by as much as 10 in the second half, found a way to claw back and force overtime.
Mason ISD is currently accepting nominations for the Gifted and Talented Program. Nominations will be accepted until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 26,2018. If you would like to nominate your child for the screening/testing process of the Gifted and Talented Program, please go to the Mason Elementary/Junior High Office for the necessary paperwork.

Could you smell the yummy aroma of cakes, candies, pies, and cookies in the air on Saturday morning as the Foods and Nutrition Exhibitors carried their delicious homemade goods into the courthouse?

It’s stock show week! The Mason County Livestock Show & Expo is this Friday and Saturday, January 5-6. We invite everyone to join us for a great event featuring talented and hard-working youth of Mason. Friday’s activities will kick off with an Exhibitor Breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by the Opening Ceremony at 9 a.m.
After just two days of practice following the end of football season, the Mason Punchers began their 2017-2018 basketball season with a tournament in Hico. The Punchers would waste no time picking up their first win of the season against Gordon. The game was filled with solid defense by Mason that lead to several steals and some easy baskets and a 39-24 win. The second round game was against a very tough 3A school Glen Rose.
