Local resident Doris Cox recently celebrated her 92nd birthday. She has been in Blanco for the past 30 of those years, and the people of Blanco are better off because of her presence here. Doris has contributed a great deal to the betterment of our town.
Born and raised in Michigan, Doris raised her own children near Dallas.
You might be shocked to learn (I know I was) that we start losing muscle in our thirties! Yes, thirties. We can lose as much as 4-5 pounds of muscle each decade. Angie Nell Smith, 78, of Parker, Texas passed away on August 16, 2019. Angie was born February 2, 1941, in Luling, Texas to Dennis and Beatrice Ellison. She grew up in Blanco, Texas and attended Blanco High School. On September 9, 1961, Angie married Dorsey Lee Smith.
One of her favorite stories to tell was how she, a Baptist, married Dorsey Lee, of the Church of Christ, in a Methodist church with a service performed by a Lutheran minister.
