The Protect Our Blanco (POB) meeting began at 4:14 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Gem of the Hills. After watching a few short “Stories from the River” videos, J.T. Morgan, POB president, took the floor. He updated members on the progress and explained the requested documents from the City of Blanco took a bit longer to receive.

A piece of the old west is coming to Blanco this weekend.
The annual Pine Moore Days will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-27, at the Buggy Barn Museum at 1915 Main Street. The three-day event is full of wild west fun with entertainment, knife and tomahawk throwing, music, food, vendors and more.
Throwers from all over the state, and even some from out of state, will join in for the world championship mounted knife and tomahawk throwing competition.
The Blanco Panther Band shows off their hardware after they received straight Division I ratings from the judges at the Region 12 UIL Marching Contest Saturday, Oct. 19 at Heroes Stadium in Northeast ISD in San Antonio. The band performed its show entitled Cryptomundial. The band will compete at the UIL 3A Area Marching Contest Saturday, Oct.
The Blanco girls cross country team qualified for the Region IV Meet with a third place finish at the District 25-3A Meet Monday, Oct. 14 at Jarrell High School.
Sophomore Ella West finished the 3200 meter distance 15th with a time of 15:15. West had this to say about the team advancing, “I’m so proud of our team and what we have achieved.
For the first time in Blanco Youth Football history all three teams not only made the semifinals, but all three won their games and are in the championship.
Blanco Freshmen defeated Lago Vista 27-6, Blanco JV defeated Junction 16-0 and Blanco Varsity defeated Kingsland 30-20 to advance.

The Lady Panthers added two District 25-3A wins to their record with a 3-1 victory against the Jarrell Lady Cougars Friday, Oct. 18 and a 3-0 shutout over the Manor New Tech Lady Titans Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Blanco beat the Cougars with set scores 25-15, 28-26, 21-25, 25-19. Winning the second set was a necessity for the Panthers, and they fought through the long set to hold on to the momentum.
District rival Comfort showed up Friday, Oct. 18 to take on the Blanco Panthers in a battle for league bragging rights. It was all Bobcats early as they jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead. Blanco battled back and a late comeback was just short as the Bobcats held on for a 24-21 win over the Panthers.
The captains for Blanco were Walton Daves, Marshal Symons, Brandt Wagner and Josh Hogan.
Tim E. Gilles, age 71 of San Antonio, passed away Oct. 19, 2019, in San Antonio.
He was born Dec. 24, 1947, in Longview, WA, to George and Frances Gilles.

Douglas Preston Higgins, 77, of Blanco, Texas, died peacefully on Oct. 8, 2019 in San Marcos, Texas after a long illness.
Doug lived a very full life and loved to travel all over the world. He served in the Navy from 1960–1963. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Braniff International, Pioneer Balloon Company and started Preston Electric after his retirement.
Robert “Bob” John Klepac, passed away Oct. 15, 2019, in Fredericksburg with family members at his side.
Bob was born on Oct. 22, 1931, in Robstown, Texas to John and Mary Klepac. He grew up in Robstown and Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended Texas A&I in Kingsville and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
