A Blanco yearling quarter horse set a world record sale price of $800,000.00 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale last Friday.
The colt, First Texas Flash, is sired by First Moon Flash and out of champion mare Stylish Jess BR. He was purchased by West Texas Racing Partners.
Julianna Hawn Holt of the Hawn Holt Cross Triangle Ranch in Blanco bred, raised and consigned the yearling colt.

The Blanco volleyball team finished the Johnson City Volleyball Tournament with a 2-0 loss to the host Lady Eagles on Aug. 28. The Eagles dominated the match with near error-free play.
A rematch between the two teams Aug. 31, just three days later, was a different story. The points were long with both teams diving for the ball before it hit the floor and chasing down the ball as it flew out of court boundary lines.
The Panthers traveled to Shiner Friday, Sept 3 to take on the Comanches. Shiner won 41-7, improving to 2-0 on the season. Blanco is currently 0-2.
Deonte Hector scored the lone touchdown for the Panthers. Cody Cross kicked the extra point.
Nathan Tomlinson was the leading rusher for Blanco with 39 yards on eight carries.
The Blanco girls finished fifth at the Fredericksburg cross country meet on Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Kylene Kramer finished 22nd in 14:14 to lead the Lady Panthers, just edging out teammate Evelyn Trammell, who finished 23rd with the same time.
For the Blanco boys, Hayden Dotson finished 17th in 20:12.

Cecilio Acosta III, Blanco High School freshman, has qualified for the Gran Prix State Championship Tournament at John Newcombe’s “Newk’s” Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels Friday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 12. Acosta accumulated points in Gran Prix Tournaments in the boys’ 14 singles division and qualified for the Capital Area Tennis Association Master’s Tournament in Austin in August.
