City of Blanco voters elected a pair of newcomers to the political scene to municipal office, while sending one member of the council back for another term.
Blanco voters handily elected Rachel Lumpee as mayor on Saturday, while Connie Baron and Keith McClellan were elected to city council positions.

Lumpee, in her first race for office, bested Phil Thompson by a 225 to 108 tally in unofficial results released by the city.

Emilee LaRue will compete in the UIL State Championship Track and Field Meet Thursday, May 6. LaRue will throw the discus at 9:00 a.m. at the Mike Myer Stadium on the University of Texas campus. LaRue, a junior at BHS, won the discus event at the Region IV meet with a throw of 117-10.
The Blanco High School boys golf team punched its ticket to the state tournament.

The Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky (BCFNS) last week concluded its 2021 Night Sky Art Contest for students at the high schools and middle schools in both Blanco and Johnson City.
