The Blanco County Wild Game Dinner has been canceled for 2020, the sale committee announced Saturday.
“At this time the sale committee has made the decision not to hold the event this year,” the Facebook announcement read. “We want to say a huge thank you to each and everyone of you for your support of our event.”
Though the annual event has been canceled for this year, fundraising efforts will continue.

Blanco County native Billie Jean (Beck) Kutzer grew up hearing stories of the Hill Country as told to her by her great grandmother Linda Wuest and grandmother Elsie Beck. They and many other families with roots in the Texas Hill Country during the 1800s have similar stories.
One of those stories led to her writing the screenplay “Legend,” which is in production and being presented to several studios.

Mike Smith is a new face on Blanco’s City Council, but he’s ready to help prepare the city for the future.
The new council member, who was elected to the position this spring, lived in Longview for over 65 years and served on multiple boards and commissions during 20 of those years.
The Blanco Panther Band practiced marching techniques Thursday, Aug. 13. Freshmen started marching practice Aug. 3, with the full band joining them Aug. 4. Band members practiced correct posture, instrument carriage and step length.

A special meeting of the Blanco Commissioners Court on Aug. 17 was called to order at 9 a.m. on Monday by County Judge Brett Bray. All four commissioners were present.

University Interscholastic League guidelines put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic will allow only 50 percent capacity at Blanco High School football games this fall, which has forced the school district to change its ticketing procedures for the upcoming season.
Only 600 tickets will be sold for the home side of Panther Stadium at each game in 2020, reports BISD Superintendent Clay Rosenbaum.
Blanco High School hosted volleyball scrimmages Friday, August 7. The Panthers, the Canyon Lake Hawks and the Boerne Greyhounds participated in the scrimmages. The junior varsity players on the team bench followed UIL requirements wearing masks before their rotation on the playing floor.
