The Rotary Club of Fair Oaks Ranch at Blanco, Texas, held their organizational meeting July 6, 2017. Many members of the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks were in attendance. The satellite application for the Blanco club has been completed and is being turned in. Jerry Gass agreed to be the Chairman of the Blanco Rotary satellite.

At 10pm on July 11, Blanco County Office of Emergency Management announced that the fire was 100% contained at about 8:45pm. Clay comes to the Blanco ISD with years of teaching and supervisory experience. He taught math and coached for 28 years. He was an assistant principal for a high school for two years, and a principal at an intermediate school for three years. He has six years of assistant superintendent experience, and six years of superintendent experience. His last position was at Floresville ISD as an assistant superintendent.
There were two fatalities in a crash that shut down HWY 281 for most of the day, Monday, July 3. According to a news release from North Blanco County EMS, on Monday, shortly before 11:30 a.m, a southbound DPS trooper spotted a Honda sedan traveling north on HWY 281 swerving into the oncoming traffic.
Ally and her husband Jason took on a labor of love when buying the Deutsch Apple in Blanco. Ally was born in Houston but lived all her life in San Antonio. Her grandfather had a ranch in Blanco, and the family spent every holiday there. “Such fond memories as kids,” Ally remembers.
AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott, in the last 10 days of June, posted news releases pointing out specific lawmakers and their plans to file bills that fulfill his expectations for the 30-day special session, which he called to begin July 18.  Abbott said lawmakers first must pass a “sunset bill” to extend the life of the Texas Medical Board and then tackle a 19-item list of other issues in the month-long session.
This past Sunday evening, the final city-sponsored free concert of the 2017 Spring/Summer concluded with the USAF Band of the West “Sky Country” ensemble. The pop music group played popular songs ranging from Janis Joplin, to Michael Jackson, and ending with Lee Greenwood’s patriotic “God Bless the USA”. More than $508,000 in grants awarded in last cycle; Applications for new grants due by July 31 AUSTIN, Texas – The Lower Colorado River Authority is accepting applications for grants of up to $50,000 for community projects throughout the LCRA service area. Applications for Community Development Partnership Program grants are available at lcra.org/cdpp and are due by July 31. “The communities LCRA serves are very important to us,’’ LCRA General Manager Phil Wilson said.
Commissioners held their regular meeting for June last Tuesday, June 13, and reconvened for a special meeting on Monday, June 19 to further discuss repaving the parking around the courthouse. At the regular June 13 meeting Commissioner Tommy Weir also gave an update on the South County Annex project. Courthouse Square Repaving The County Courthouse parking lot may be repaved in the coming weeks.
