Due to the COVID-19, coronavirus, pandemic, Meals of Wheels is urgently seeking volunteers to assist with the food delivery program. If you, or someone you know, are interested in volunteering, please call the Johnson City Site Manager at 830-868-4173 or the Blanco Site Manager at 830-392-6552.
Most of us are tired of hearing about this virus, I just wanted to let everyone know, we have cancelled all our Support Group meetings as a precaution. When this situation calms down, and we are able to meet in groups, we will let everyone know of locations, dates, and times.
By Megan Ables Though most refer to him as Terry Fagerstrom, I prefer to call him The Collector. He owns an eclectic event venue called That Joint in Spicewood, built inside a historic post office from the 1910 era. The post office has since closed and now its walls display a diverse collection of items that Terry has accumulated over the past 47 years. Inside one of the rooms is an indoor stage made from a cypress cistern bottom.

Spring Break at the Science Mill Robot Mania will be held this Spring Break. On March 16-20, visitors will be racing, building and coding robots at special pop-up stations all over the museum. Grab an iPad and head to the mBot obstacle course to race against other robot operators. Step behind the joystick to maneuver extreme K’Nex machines.
Hill Country Memorial will host a free heart screening for teenagers aged 14-18 years old on Wednesday, March 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the hospital in Fredericksburg. The “SCORE” screening will examine teens’ hearts for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a rare condition that causes part of the heart muscle to stiffen, producing an abnormal cardiac rhythm.

Blanco County 4-H and FFA Youth Council Annual Meeting The meeting will be at the Blanco County Show Barn in Johnson City on March 4, 2020 at 7 p.m. Agenda items are: review of the rules, policy changes and suggestions for improvements in the Youth Show; and election of directors with expiring terms. You must be a paid member by February 26 to run as a Director and vote. Contact Keitha Johnson at (830) 833-4138 or at [email protected] for more information. Local calligrapher and artist, Haley Ping, is displaying her latest calligraphic commission, a modern day illuminated manuscript commission on calfskin vellum at the Blanco Library in the large conference room on Saturday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend. The commission is an English translation of the Pirkei Avot, a Jewish book of ethical teachings that is read at Passover.
Blanco, Texas is a community where citizens turn out in full force to support those in need. This week we will once again have an opportunity to support a family in our community. On January 24, 17-year-old Madelynn Giese of Blanco was critically injured in a major auto accident at the intersection of US 281 and Highway 473.
Texas is a land with a wealth of history dating back as far prehistoric times. Once great dinosaurs roamed the land. At times it was covered with shallow seas. While taking a walk through the Hill Country, one can find sea shell fossils laying in abundance on the caliche ground.
The 10th Annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser supporting SHS, Inc. Community Preschool.  Saturday, February 29th 5-9pm at the Blanco County Show Barn.  This exciting event will feature approximately 12 soups from area restaurants including Fat Boys Burgers, Proof and Cooper, Nurry's, Hilltop Cafe, Clear River, and Social Hauz.  Fresh bread and cookies as well as tea and water will also be provided as part of the meal.
