Blanco Performing Arts presents Jonathan Tsay and Evan Mitchell in a piano duet concert on Saturday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Community Church of the Hills in Johnson City, Texas. The Johnson City Womans Civic Club members zoomed into the year on-line on October 26. Membership voted to begin community service with a food donation project benefitting the Women’s Crisis Center for Thanksgiving. The program for the evening was “The History of Womans Club” and was presented by JCWCC President, Diana Burke.
CANCELLED: Smorgasboard Fundraiser Every year since 1958, the Smorgasboard Fundraiser raises thousands of dollars for local community entities such as Volunteer fire departments, EMS, libraries, youth organizations, and other charities. COVID-19 has forced the cancellation of this year’s event. Current county guidelines regarding group size and social distancing made the event impossible to have in the schoolhouse.
Next Wednesday, Veteran’s Day will bring together residents both young and old to remember and honor American heroes from all branches of the military. Don’t forget the Blanco Countywide Household Waste Collection event takes place this Saturday, Oct. 31. Blanco citizens should bring their waste to the Blanco County/Waste Connections Transfer Station at 377 Transfer Road in Johnson City from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by Blanco County, Blanco Pedernales Underground Water Conservation District, and Keep Blanco Beautiful.

Results of the 2019-2020 Blanco County 4-H awards were released recently with winners from all over the county. Each year, 4-H members who complete a project form showing their learning experiences earn a pin for every project completed and a display ribbon. At Community Church of the Hills Sunday morning, the Elders commissioned Kasey Smith as the new Pastor of Women. “We are very proud to have Kasey on staff since she has a real heart for prayer, discipleship and the Kingdom of God,” said a statement from the Church of the Hills.
