Interested stakeholders in the Upper Llano River watershed are invited to provide comments on the draft Upper Llano River Watershed Protection Plan during the 30-day formal public comment period, June 8 through July 8, according to the watershed coordinator.
Tyson Broad, the Upper Llano River watershed coordinator, said the plan, developed by the Upper Llano Watershed Coordination Committee, is available on the Llano River Watershed Alliance at llanoriver.org.

The Jack Moss painting of the Battle of Packsaddle Mountain is now on display at the Llano County Historical Museum.
According to the artist, the painting depicts the last battle in Llano County between ranchers and Comanche Indians. This battle occurred on top of Packsaddle Mountain, which is located on the eastern edge of the county off of Highway 71.
The first planning meeting of the “Llooking Forward in Llano” initiative will be held on Wednesday, June 15.
The meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the East Llano County Annex, located at 8347 RR 1431 in Buchanan Dam.
The meeting will be held to explore strategies that address Llano County’s environmental and community renewal needs.

Congressman Mike Conaway answered questions on presidential candidate Donald Trump, veterans issues and everything in between in front of about 50 people during an hour-long town hall Thursday morning at the Llano County Courthouse.

Noessa Higa, producer of the “Man in the Can” movie, arrived early to Llano on Friday morning. Already here were 1,000 DVDs ready for the signing party to be held at Main Street Affairs on Saturday afternoon.

The Llano City Council voted on Monday to terminate the groundwater rights agreement between the city and William F. Leverett.
Following a closed session to discuss the matter with an attorney, the council passed the motion 4-1, with Gail Lang voting against it. In addition to terminating the agreement, the city will pay Leverett a one-time payment of $30,000.

Marian Coppin passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Llano, Texas at the age of 82. She was born October 16, 1933 in Camden, South Carolina to Marguerite (Pierce) and John Thomas Littlejohn, Jr. She married Gene Coppin July 9, 1953 in LaFeria, Texas. She was a resident of Round Rock, Texas for 24 years before moving to Llano, Texas where she lived for the past seven years.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Llano City Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Reverend Sid McMahon officiating.
Sonora Laurie Lawley was born February 14, 1963 and passed away on June 2, 2016. She is preceded in death by Harold Von“Red” Lawley and Mary Ruth Howard.

On May 28, 2016 this earth lost an angel and heaven gained one. Petrus “Pete” Bolkenstyn was born February 8, 1935 to Johannes Bolkenstyn and Gertrud Kurten Bolkenstyn in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Being a young holocaust survivor he recalled later he and his friends pulling nails from the many bridges which connected Amsterdam so the Nazis crossing by horse would fall into the canals.
Nancy Renna Brenderfur was born December 12, 1947 in Ventor, California and went to be with our Lord on May 31, 2016. She lived in Llano since 1980.

Lila Faye Johnson passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2016 at her home in Llano, Texas. She was 91 years old. Lila was born August 18, 1924, at home in Birthwright, Texas. She grew up in Peerless, Texas where her father, Floyd Milligan, ran a cotton gin. Her mother, Mildred (Gardener) Milligan passed away when she was 12, so her grandparents Sam and Sally Milligan helped raise her.
Lila was baptized Church of Christ as a child.
William R. Shipp Jr (Bill) passed away peacefully in his beloved town of Llano on June 6. He was 87. Bill was born on December 6, 1928 in Hamilton, Texas; the only child of Julia Christianson Shipp and William R. Shipp. He grew up in Priddy, Texas, where he excelled in sports- particularly basketball, tennis, and baseball.
