Dear Editor, The major consideration as to whether to trim expenses in the county’s JP courts is their case load – at least it is according to the Texas Judicial Branch that reports on this stuff. However, none of the JPs want to talk about it.  So I will. According to the Texas Judicial Branch’s “Annual Statistical Report for the Texas Judiciary Fiscal Year 2014,” there are 817 Justice of the Peace Courts in the State of Texas.  There are four in Llano County.

Dear Editor, The devil is winning! Be sober and be vigilant for your adversary the devil roams about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Have you noticed the acceleration of evil? Biblical values are falling aside daily. The efforts to destroy God’s handiwork are moving faster and faster. The Lord reminded me that upon His death on the cross Satan rejoiced.
1930-2015
Charles Bird Upton completed his race and entered the glory of our Lord at age 84 after a long and full life leaving the world diminished and heaven richer. He died peacefully on July 23, 2015 in his home in San Antonio, Texas from natural causes. Charles was born on September 15, 1930 in Austin, Texas to James Bird Upton and May Bell Cantrell Upton.
Jack Maurice Talley, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2015. He is survived by his wife Mary; daughters, Amy and Stacey; son-in-law Toby, and grandson Tyler; his brother William Roy and wife Debbie Talley and children James and Sandi; numerous great nieces and nephews; his uncle Jerry and wife Alberta Allred and Angela; his aunt Jean Talley and Linda. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack Leverett and Marilyn Louise Talley.
1928-2015
Howard Lee (Bo) Morris of Llano, Texas was peacefully called home to be with his Heavenly Father July 20, 2015. He was born in Liberty, Texas December 27, 1928 to Lee Howard and Nellie (Word) Morris. He was the youngest of six children. Howard graduated from Liberty High School and later enlisted in the United States Navy. He met his future wife, Bonnie Towler in 1950 and they were married on February 2, 1952.
Loyce Rogers Majkszak was born March 19, 1936 to Lee and Merle Rogers in Llano County. She died August 4, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lige Majkszak, her son, Mark and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberlee (Wayne); son, Kerry (Jerrie Kaye); grandson, Daniel (Jennifer); great grandchildren, Remington, Kayelee and Raini; her sister, Joyce (Nolan), and nieces and nephews. Loyce enjoyed building a home and raising her family with Lige always at her side.
An area of Llano County that began to be settled shortly after the county was created in 1856 was the northwestern part of the county. The main road west across Llano County began at Old Bluffton on the Colorado River and traversed across the upper section of the county into Mason County.
This is the time of the year when rain is a frequent visitor, especially in the afternoon. It is then that a person is tempted to go outside and dance in the rain. Paul added: “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:23). Jesus was the greatest example of one who gave Himself completely to every task.
