Chloroquine phosphate, when used without a prescription and supervision of a healthcare provider, can cause serious health consequences, including death. Clinicians and public health officials should discourage the public from misusing non-pharmaceutical chloroquine phosphate (a chemical used in home aquariums). Clinicians should advise patients and the public that chloroquine, and the related compound hydroxychloroquine, should be used only under the supervision of a healthcare provider as p ...
The Hill Country CattleWomen (HCCW) presented the Hill Country Veteran’s Center Food Pantry in Kerrville with a $500 gift card they can use to purchase beef for veterans and veteran’s families in need. The HCVC Food Pantry has a large commercial freezer and a regular home-size freezer so using the gift card to purchase 1-pound packages of hamburger they can distribute easily made sense. A ribbon-cutting and party in 2013 officially opened the “Hill Country Veterans Center” for busin ...
Well, here we are, all tucked safely inside our little nests. It’s not easy; change is always difficult. It’s a lot of adapting, but we can do it. While it is a big adjustment to make, I’ve found that many are enjoying having some family time to reconnect and appreciate each other and what they have—because compared to a lot of places, we are sitting pretty. Western Trappings on the Llano 2019 is honored to have two of our local artists provide raffle items for this year’s art exhibition. The raffle items are on display at the Llano County Historical Museum. Tickets are $5.00 each and are available at the museum. Ira Kennedy’s “Before the Flood”, a 16”x24” gallery-wrapped canvas, captures a beautiful Hill Country scene complete with fields of bluebonnets.
Western Swing at The Lantex The Llano Country Opry celebrated its 20th anniversary a few months ago and the entertainment just gets better with each performance. With the approach of hunting season, it is only proper to write a story about one of Llano's more reclusive hunters. This particular hunter has been at it a while, in fact, he's won more than a few awards and captured quite a number of titles. In fact, his trophy wall is lined with them: books.
The Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, September 23. Jerry Land told the Commissioners that Llano Recycling Opportunities will stop accepting recycling materials on October 15 and will be closed by October 31. The main reason is that the amount paid to places like our recycling center has dropped drastically.
National Dance Day Established in 2010 by American Dance Movement co-founder, Nigel Lythgoe, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, National Dance Day is an annual celebration dedicated to dance, that encourages Americans of all ages to incorporate dance into their lives. By creating a focused day of celebration to show support for dance as a valuable form of exercise and of artistic expression, American Dance Movement aims to educate the public about dance and its many benefits, as well ...
Tuesday, September 17, 2019, approximately 4:24 pm. FBI agents Scully and Mulder, stationed at Grenwelge Park, prevented a pack of Llano teenagers attempting to storm Area 51. Though aliens had been seen in the Area, the teens were urged to look elsewhere. They were sent over the bridge, through a time warp, to the Museum, then back over the bridge, stopping at The Llano News, and naruto running around the courthouse before turning themselves in to officials at the Red Top Jail, where they ...
The Llano River is one of the most critical resources in the region. Its protection is an environmental, economic and cultural concern. We all benefit from the River; it is up to each of us to work for its protection. The Llano River Watershed Alliance (LRWA) is a nonprofit organization of landowners and interested stakeholders whose mission is to preserve and enhance the Llano River watershed by encouraging land and water stewardship through collaboration, education, and community particip ...
