A man died on Sunday after jumping into Lake Buchanan from a cliff. Authorities said Joshua Reid, 39, jumped into the water before 4 p.m. Sunday and did not resurface. He was on the north side of the lake. He was with friends, and they immediately called 911. They also tried to find him. Reid’s body was recovered that same day by members of the Buchanan Dam Fire Department’s dive team.

Llano County employees will now get personal/flex time through at least the end of the year. Llano ISD officially welcomes Mac Edwards this summer as the district’s superintendent of schools. Although he is new to Llano ISD, he is not exactly new to Llano. Evelyn managed the Llano Airport for over 30 years, located on Hwy. 16 north of town, and the airport is located at 100 Evelyn Gould Drive - yes, the same Evelyn Gould in the photo.
By Briley Mitchell Every other month, the even ones, Llano businesses stay open a little later than normal and welcome local artists into their shops, allowing them to show their work. Now a year old, the Llano Fourth Friday Artwalk is gaining some ground. This past Friday, after younger artists have been working on their projects for the past few months, the teen art class from Calamity & Grace showed off the works they were so proud of.
Work is progressing quickly on the new multi-purpose facility behind Llano High School. The mainframe for the structural part of the pre-engineered 2,300 square foot building has gone up in a matter of days. The inside will have the same turf as the football field and can be marked for football, baseball, soccer or any other turf sport, so that those teams, as well as the band, can practice there.
MARBLE FALLS — Everybody loves a parade, or a bunch of two-car parades like the ones in the 8th Annual Adult Soap Box Derby Classic in downtown Marble Falls, June 16-18. But the Derby had a pretty good “opening act” — which measured eight feet. Diagonal measurement, that is. A pizza. Jake Gilligan and Rey Gonzalez, two young men from San Antonio, brought the dough, cheese, sauce, and toppings, and, oh, yes, a two-ton cooker, to make the biggest pizza most of us will ever eat — or see.
Pastor Jenny Tucker helped collect out of service U.S. flags at Highland Lakes United Methodist Church, at 8303 W. RR 1431, which hosted the official flag retirement celebration at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14.
