Early voting for the Nov. 8 general election will offer extended voting hours at the Llano Library and Kingsland Library over the two-week duration of early voting.
Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 24, and ends Nov. 4 at all three Llano County early voting locations – Llano Library, Kingsland Library and Horseshoe Bay Quailpoint POA.

At the end of a very long Llano ISD board of trustees meeting Monday, the trustees agreed on the selection of a firm to aid in the hunt for a new superintendent.
The current superintendent, Casey Callahan, is moving to the Region 15 Education Service Center in San Angelo. He will begin there in January.
The trustees chose from four agencies specializing in searching for school superintendents.
Robert Pope isn’t on your ordinary cross-country journey. The Liverpool, England, native and champion marathoner is following the route the fictional character and movie namesake Forrest Gump took from Mobile, Ala., to the Pacific Ocean in California in his cross-country run. Pope began the journey last month and made his way through Llano on Thursday.

A packed crowd saw the best of the first-ever PRCA Xtreme Bulls competition held in Llano on Saturday night, as part of Wild West Weekend.
The John L Kuykendall Arena was cut in half Saturday night for the event. What has been a PRCA Rodeo the past two years was changed midstream to the bull riding, and the move was brilliant as far as attendance was concerned.
Boys State and Girls State attendees from Llano High School and Faith Academy, who were each sponsored by the Kingsland American Legion, were honored Saturday with an awards ceremony. The students and staff of Llano ISD are reaching a familiar point in the school year. The excitement of beginning a new year is gone, the first grading period is over, and the path to Thanksgiving break still seems in the distant future. The job task “Preparing and Serving food” is done daily with a greater purpose in mind here at Llano ISD because we know that our school meals play a critical role for our students:
• USDA research indicates that children who participate in School Lunch have superior nutritional intakes compared to those who do not participate.
• Students who eat Breakfast at school:
o Are more attentive
o Have improved math grades
o Improves students
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the “Pink Out” pep rally at Llano Junior High was Thursday, Oct. 6.
The students at the Junior High decided to raise a little money by selling T-shirts and chances to “pie” a teacher in the face at the pep rally. They set a goal of $200 and then asked several businesses in town contribute matching funds.
