The Llano County Commissioners approved a replat for a Kingsland RV park on Tuesday, about two months after it first appeared before the court. The replat for Tucker Street RV Park was approved by a 4-1 vote, with Precinct 3 Commissioner Ron Wilson voting against it. The motion originally appeared before the commissioners on Aug.
Rowell has been enchanted by rocks since his youth
Most kids love to collect rocks when they’re young. Some of them, like Frank Rowell, never outgrow that fascination. Rowell, the owner and operator of the Enchanted Rocks & Jewelry shop in Llano, said he has always loved rocks and that’s why he stopped being a machinist in his early twenties and went into the jewelry business. This weekend is time to welcome the Wild West to Llano. With locations scattered all over Llano, there is something for just about everyone. Vendors will start setting up on Friday evening around the square, along Oatman Street and at Grenwelge Park. There will be live entertainment on the Gazebo located at the Llano County Courthouse, and also at Grenwelge Park from 10 a.m.
More than 50 artists from all over the United States converged in Llano last weekend for the fourth annual Western Trappings art exhibit, which also included a juried show and live auction. The weekend kicked off with the artist’s reception on Friday at the Llano Historical Museum. The reception was open to the public and provided local “trappings” enthusiasts the opportunity to meet the artists and purchase items that caught their fancy.
The Llano City Council tabled a possible closure and abandonment of an alley near Lyssy & Eckel Feeds at Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting. Charles Eckel originally made the request in June for the city to close, abandon, vacate and convey a portion of an alleyway that is adjacent to Lyssy & Eckel.

Though administrators had hoped for a crowd, only a handful of eligible students showed up for the Llano High School voter registration event held last Friday. LHS Assistant Principal Toby Fletcher joined forces with County Election Administrator Cindy Ware, to go beyond the legal requirements of just handing out voter registration cards to 17 and 18 year old students.
The 2016 Llano County Farm Bureau annual meeting was held Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the American Legion Hall in Llano. Over 150 members, board members and staff were on hand to enjoy a fried fish dinner and listen to Whitney Whitworth speak about Veterinary Feed Directive. Board members Ron Duckworth and Gene Hall stepped down and were replaced by Joe Wells and Roland Rode.
On Wednesday morning, Sept. 28, students at Llano Junior High School and Llano High School met early for See You at The Pole, a student led prayer session that began in 1990 as a grassroots movement. That first morning there were 10 students that met at their flag pole, to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school and nation to God.

Not many folks can say they lived in Alaska, and even fewer can say they did lived there as a woman alone for eight years. But that is exactly what Llano local, Eva Carter did from 1988 to 1996. Carter went up to visit her brother in Fairbanks, Alaska, for the Christmas holidays and realized she could make a lot more money than she could ever hope to in Texas. “I went up there with a single suitcase for a short visit that turned into an eight-year stay,” remembers Carter.
