The quaint Texas Hill Country town of Bertram is preparing itself for this year’s Labor Day event—their 42nd Annual Oatmeal Festival. The festival kicks off on Friday, August 30, in the nearby town of Oatmeal. At 5:03 p.m., arts and crafts stations will be set up and a BBQ dinner will be served for excited guests at the Oatmeal Community Center.
FREDERICKSBURG—Returning for the start of the 2019 school year, Hill Country Memorial’s (HCM) Sports Injury Clinics will provide free orthopedic and physical therapy evaluations to middle and high school students on Saturdays from Aug. 31 through Nov. 9, 2019. The clinics will be held from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at Hill Country Memorial Hospital, located at 1020 S.

The Highland Lakes Texas Exes Chapter is hosting a concert/game watching event at the home of Darin and Cheryl McNelis on Saturday, September 14 from 5:00 p.m. until the game is over. John Arthur Martinez will be performing from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. The address is 800 Los Escondidos, Marble Falls. Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over During the 2019 Labor Day holiday, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Llano County will partner with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to get drunk drivers off the roads and help save lives. The high-visibility national enforcement campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, runs from Aug.

On April 10, in an investigation started by Burnet County Precinct 4 Constable Missy Bindseil, and then Investigator Chris Cowan, felony charges were brought against Levi Baay, age 19. Bayy was charged with Illegal Dumping greater than 1,000 lbs., greater than 200 cubic feet, Health and Safety Code 365.012, which is a State Jail Felony.
At their luncheon and meeting on July 25, the Highland Lakes Democratic Women heard Horseshoe Bay resident Lyn Jenkins share her inspiring story of perseverance, hope and optimism.Jenkins is a family lawyer whose career includes stints as a social worker, counselor, chemistry teacher, and manager of a maximum-security male inmate prison unit. Jenkins has battled and defeated cancer three times.
After months of following the imaginary yellow brick road, the Friends of the Lakeshore Library are bringing their engraved brick campaign to a close by August 15. In preparation for the upcoming 15-year celebration of the opening, the bricks have to be ordered and returned for installation on the walkway in time for the October 19 festivities.
