Everyone at Short Stop appreciates all who entered the contest, and sends out their congratulations to each and every one of them.

Here are some thoughts on important events in life that happen very quickly.
We anticipate and plan for the birth of a child, but the actual event happens quickly.
Look at the wedding story in Matthew 25. Some of the wedding attendants were ready for the banquet and some were not. When the bridegroom arrived, only the attendants who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet.

Only a Few Miles - Still So Different...
We who live in Mason, when we meet someone while traveling, have all experienced the same geographic contortions that only affect those from small towns. When asked, "Where are you from?" we automatically start with the rather detailed answer.
"Do you know where Fredericksburg/Brady/Llano/Junction/Menard is?"
We start with all of the neighboring towns in the hope that we can then simply add the miles distant and direction of the town they do know ...

Tax season is here, and I just want to remind everyone that the library provides computers, copy service, FAX, and scanning. The IRS no longer sends out tax forms to libraries; however, you may download and print them here from the IRS website.
I want to say a special thank-you to everyone who donated blood last week.
Thanks, Dianne
Well, it didn’t take long for the Democrats, in their new congressional majority, to introduce a ‘fresh’ gun control bill. Known as the ‘Feinstein Assault Weapon Ban of 2019,’ the new bill is obviously a valiant effort to protect the American people by banning SOME of the weapons used in 2% of the homicides in the country.
Backs to the Wall?...
My Uncle Mort’s telephone is almost always warm, mostly due to the heat generated from his hand held firmly against his cheek, wherein is a jawbone that’s almost always yakking.
Maybe that assessment is a bit harsh, but when the old duffer’s comments have been clocked at 150 words per minute with gusts to 200, you’ll get no argument here.

This is definitely fireplace weather.
Cold
Gray.
Dreary days.
Winter, for sure.
Hot chocolate.
Hot toddies.
Hot salsa.
Anything to warm up.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…
Cold weather seems to bring on ...
