Irrigation water is the lifeblood for Rio Grande Valley farmers and ranchers, and delays in water delivery by Mexico under terms of an international treaty are serious, according to the president of Mason County Farm Bureau.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently urged U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to hold Mexico to its treaty obligations under Article 4 of the Utilization of Waters of the Colorado and Tijuana Rivers and of the Rio Grande (Treaty), signed Feb.
"Mason ISD is excited to announce that construction on the new track and field is now complete! We would like to extend our invitation to the community to come out and enjoy the new track beginning Thursday, November 5th. We are very pleased with the final product and know that this will benefit our students and the track program at Mason ISD.

For the 10th consecutive season, the Mason High School varsity football team has earned the honor of being named as a district champion.
The Oct. 31 contest on road at Ozona High School (6-2 overall and 3-0 in district play before Friday night) was a nailbiter for a vast majority of the game but the Punchers were able to get the job done.
7th vs. Ozona
The seventh grade Punchers played a hard fought game but came up short in a 16-6 loss to Ozona. It was a tight game all the way through but Ozona was able to pull off a late touchdown putting the game out of reach.
Scoring the lone touchdown for the Punchers was Kalen Langehennig on rushing touchdown.

Have you ever found yourself thrown off course? What about plans canceled or postponed? I’m confident you know the feeling as we find ourselves in a global time of uncertainty. Perhaps you don’t understand why. Why you feel alone. Why you think God isn’t listening. Why you’re finding yourself scared or confused.
There’s a story in the book of Acts where Apostle Paul faced trial and tribulation that led him to the same feelings.
(This is a repeat of the column I wrote four years ago, with minor content changes, regarding the 2016 Presidential election. I regret that it has weathered the intervening time so well that only minor changes were necessary.)
As I write this column, the polls have been open on the east coast for over two hours, and more than an hour here in the central United States.
Here are some "St. Murphy's Commandments," laws in the church that are akin to the classic Murphy's Law, "If anything can go wrong, it will." The following come out of my research into the subject. They pertain to pastors and the relationship they have with their congregations.
The Seminary Curriculum Commandment: The one thing they didn't teach in seminary is the first thing a pastor will need to know on the job.
The Rule of Emerging Emergencies: Emergencies arise in direct proportion to ...
I understand that not all of you have a bread machine, but this is a recipe that you can use even if you have to mix up the dough the old fashioned way. The resulting rolls are wonderfully light on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside.
Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
3 ¼ cups Gold Medal “Better for Bread” flour (other brands of bread flour will work!)
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons bread machine or active dry ...
When my aged Uncle Mort called the other day, I figured he wanted me to hear his election rants. Instead, he told me his TV has been “muted” since political ads took over most channels several weeks ago.
“So far, Maude and I are making it fine, particularly if we remember to wear blinders atop our masks when we go to town,” he said.
You know I have to throw in a “Crock Pot” recipe every once in awhile. This is one of my go to recipes when I feel like I’m in a cooking rut. The aroma when you walk in the door will make your mouth water. Serve with some noodles, salad and garlic bread and you will win over family and friends and warm a body up on a cold night.
1 can (14 ounces) whole artichoke hearts, drained

The world is right again. My hour of sleep was restored and I feel much better. The only problem is that we will repeat this loss of time to save time fiasco in the spring.

When Mason County Food Bank volunteer Olin Williams visited the Jr. High School to ask for Food Bank donations, he never imaged the tremendous response we would get. The Jr. High Student Council collected, loaded and unloaded 1,762 cans, boxes and packages of food! They filled Olin’s pickup truck full to over-flowing.
In October the Food Bank served 381 individuals, and more than 50% were children and elderly.

Mason County has fascinating and diverse geological formations, and it is a popular destination for both amateur and professional geologists. Part of the reason for this diversity is that Mason County has rocks and deposits that were formed from billions of years ago up until the present.
Layers of the Earth’s surface are always in one of two states: rock layers are either being formed (deposition), or they are being eroded away (erosion).
This smile didn’t just happen. It’s the result of Second Chance volunteers taking their time and working together to make a dog’s life better. And you can be a part of this rewarding effort.
Dogs end up homeless for a variety of reasons. An owner’s death. Or a furry little puppy grows into a 6-month-old youngster and isn’t cute in the same way.
