The Mason High School varsity football team, which entered last week with an impressive eight-game winning streak, was put up against a juggernaut top-ranked Shiner High School squad that had beaten up on its opponents throughout 2020.
This is exactly what happened as No. 1 Shiner avenged three consecutive playoff losses to Mason (2014, 2016, and 2017) with a dominant 56-0 shutout victory over the Punchers on Friday, Nov.
The PETER’S PRAIRIE SCHOOL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION regrets to inform everyone that the annual Christmas party will NOT BE HELD this year due to the covid-19 pandemic.

I drove through Fredericksburg about a month or so ago.
As I cruised down Main Street,I was shocked to see they already had two large Merry Christmas signs hanging from one side of the street to the other. And I thought “They just can’t wait for Christmas, can they?” And although the Old Testament Jews didn’t realize it, they couldn’t wait for Christmas either!
God help me, it's begun!
Over the Thanksgiving weekend, I began the slow and complicated process of beginning to clean out my office here at the News office. Though this is the third office location I've occupied during the last 22 years, I didn't always throw things away during those two previous moves.
"The Story Of Your Life Is Written On Your Face."
That old Tom T. Hall song came to mind while standing in front of the bathroom mirror in our ranch house - a looking glass I have been looking into for almost 80 years.
Oh, there have been other mirrors in my life.
I’ve published an English Muffin Bread recipe before, but this one is simple, easy, and no kneading is required. You also wind up with 2 loaves to slice and toast to your heart’s content! I personally prefer this bread to the original.
Ingredients:
2 packages of dry yeast (4 ½ teaspoons)
6 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup water
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cornmeal
Process:
In a small sauce pan, heat the milk and water until ...
Many lessons awaited a baby born in 1935 on a dry land farm in West Texas’ Tom Green County. Jimmie Royce Keeling calls all of them “blessings.”
That’s how he has sized up life so far, and it’s hard to dispute him. He’s shown dogged determination to give a heap more back than he’s taken away.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Although not everyone came to our dinner, we visited with them on the phone. I tried to start up and old tradition where we did something together after the big meal. This year I spent too much time on Pinterest and we made Christmas ornaments using wooden shims from the building supply store.
Roy ‘Bubba’ and Barbara Pfeil, sons Reece and Royce, 9 and 12, and two surviving grown daughters Lori and Machelle would like to report that two weeks after surgery Bubba received his diagnosis of glioblastoma, the deadliest and most aggressive form of brain cancer. Bubba remains optimistic and filled with his love of Jesus.
The fundraising benefit hosted on November 14 2020, went impressively well, with all items sold out by 11:45.
Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” who absolutely insist on enjoying life, are more than happy to send 2020 on its way in style, with our inimitable Christmas Party, which includes food (of course!), friendship (of course again!) and the often-imitated-but-never-duplicated Chinese auction (the real reason for the season).
This year’s Christmas party will be Tuesday, December 8th, at the home of Sherie Clarkson, who is going to have to charge a rental ...
The COVID-19 situation has disrupted the normal functioning of the Mason Lions Club, particularly in regard to the temporary termination of regular meetings where members have frequent opportunities to interact with one another. “The goal of the program is to really engage young students in the classroom by giving them unique opportunities to see ...

“Twilight of the Gods is a riveting account of the harrowing last year of World War II in the Pacific, when the U.S.
Central Texas is well known for both its droughts and floods. We seem to go back and forth between these two states on a roughly five-year cycle. Our annual average rainfall is about 26” (slightly more in the eastern part of the county, and slightly less in the west). But an “average” year is uncommon.
I put this in the paper a year or so ago but had some requests for it here goes. I This is a great recipe when you have company coming and especially this time of year and you can make this ahead time. I think you could even freeze it.
