The public is invited to attend the May meeting of Texas Master Naturalist-Hill Country Chapter to hear a presentation focused on damselflies and dragonflies, master predators both as aquatic larvae and air-borne adults. Join Interpreter and Naturalist Craig Hensley from Guadalupe River State Park for a presentation about these fascinating, diverse and important critters.
The Mason County Democrats held their regular business meeting on May 9th at the home of County Democratic Chairwoman, Lynn Reichenau. The first order of business was the recognition of Precinct Chairs and the election of executive committee members. Precinct Chairs are: Michael Murphy-101, Anna Velez-210, Kathy Tallent-302; and, Willie Mae Bauer-405.
Kingdom Kids is a Mother’s Day Out program which takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at River of Life Church. Individuals considering joint replacement surgery are invited to a free Destination Restore program presentation with dinner at Nacho’s Café on Tues., May 23. A complimentary dinner will be provided at 6 p.m., with a presentation to follow. Hill Country Memorial Restore Program Coordinator Marilyn Berry and orthopedic surgeons will discuss types of hip, knee and shoulder replacement implants, treatment options and information about pre-operative classes and coaching.
The Habitat House Selection Committee will hold the initial meeting to apply for the 2018 Habitat House on May 23, 2017 at the Eckert Community Center. If you are interested in applying for a home, plan to attend the meetings scheduled for May 23, June 6 and June 13, 2017.
Fredericksburg, TX (May 15, 2017) The Fredericksburg Theater Company’s (FTC) is thrilled to announce the cast for their summer musical production of Guys and Dolls. The public is invited to visit “Rockets 2017” this weekend near Fredericksburg TX and watch Texas high school rocketeers launch more than 80 rockets May 18-21. These students, who are in the SystemsGo STEM program, will launch on Stewart Ranch at Willow City, Texas, near Fredericksburg. The public is welcome and admission is free, but anyone attending is required to register in advance by going to www.systemsgo.org.

I hope you had a great Mother’s Day weekend. We celebrated at our house on Sunday. We don’t do elaborate gifts but it was great to have Sunday lunch prepared for me by daughter Tina and granddaughter Amber. It was delicious. It is officially reunion season. I was putting dates on the calendar.
Mason Youth Baseball and Softball closing ceremonies will be this Thursday, May 25th at 6:30 pm. Come out to the fields and support the youth of our community. We had a great regular season and our youth exceled against area schools. One highlight of the season I would like to share is from a parent of an area town.
