The MCLWPA will hold its annual meeting Thursday January 16, 2020. The meeting will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 5:30. It is crucial that all concerned landowners and citizens of Mason County attend. We will elect officers and directors. Those attending will have the opportunity to determine the dues and bounties for 2020.
The Odeon theater in Mason is the last stop before bluesman Johnny Nicholas heads way way out west to Hawaii for a concert tour. In addition to his performances throughout the islands Johnny will be working with the talented students of the Honoka’a High School Dragon Jazz Band. Nicholas’ tour will benefit the Honoka’a High School program, especially their jazz band students who will be joining Nicholas on stage for the entire tour.
America’s civil rights era will come to life at Mason’s historic Odeon Theater on the afternoon of Sunday, January 19, with a 50th anniversary screening of Ely Landau’s acclaimed documentary “King: A Filmed Record … Montgomery to Memphis.” The three-hour presentation will begin promptly at 2:00 P.M. and will include one intermission.
Join us on January 21 at 6:30 P.M. for a free music event, as we welcome back the folk duo Hungrytown! After more than fifteen years of world-wide touring and three album releases, Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson have earned a reputation for the quality and authenticity of their songwriting.
Hall and Anderson met in New York City, where they had already been performing regularly- Hall as a jazz singer, and Anderson as a drummer for a variety of garage bands.
The regular meeting of the Mason Garden Club will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Stribling Room of the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library. Sherie Clarkson, Master Gardener from Mason, will present a program on “Herbs for Pollinators”. Now is the time to start thinking about the herbs to add to your garden and landscape to help our pollinator friends.

It is time for everyone to double their prayers for rain. We really need rain. The last storm started in the far eastern part of the county and left everyone else with a little wind.
At the Art United Methodist Church, Men’s Choir will practice January 28 at 6. The Finance Committee will have their quarterly meeting on January 29 at 5.
Class Meetings continue on Wednesday evenings at the parsonage.
The event will be at the Mason County Library on Thursday, January 23 at 7 pm.
Participants include: Pct. #1 County Commissioner, Reggie Loeffler, and Pct. #3 County Commissioner, Buddy Schuessler. The two candidates running for County Sheriff are: Brian Haley and Joe Lancaster. The candidate for County Attorney is Rebekah Whitworth.
The McCulloch County Republican Women held an organizational meeting on January 7 to gain a better understanding of the voting process in McCulloch County and to become better informed about the candidates running for national, state, and county offices. Speaking to the group included members of the County Clerk’s Office.

The Mason County Republican Women will hold their bimonthly luncheon on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. in the Stribling Room at the Mason Library.
Members and guests will gather at 11:30 am for meet and greet with the luncheon starting promptly at noon.
Our special speaker will be Blixen Hofmann, who will present her views on:
“Challenges Facing Today’s Conservative Teens.”
Blixen is a 15 year old sophomore at Mason High School.
