Welcome to September. We had a pleasant surprise to start September. When we went in to eat lunch Sunday at a local restaurant, it was sunny. While we were eating, rain fell. We got quite damp running for the car. That is a good start to any month. The Art United Methodist Church will celebrate Grandparents Day on September 8, with a covered dish lunch after church.
There will be a Band Booster Meeting on Monday, September 9th at 6:00 p.m. at the high school. Regular monthly meeting - first on the agenda is coronation. Anyone interested in helping with the 2019 Coronation please attend.
Walking Second Chance rescue dogs this summer has reminded me of a simpler kind of happiness: one that is received by giving it away. The purest joy can be found in the act of giving love for the sake of love. These dogs have repaid me for whatever love I have been able to give them thousands of times over.
Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” who absolutely insist on living life to the fullest, partied down in August at the home of Brenda Koepke. A robust crowd of 12 filled her living room and dining room, then invaded her husband Tommy’s “man cave” to admire his vast collection of military memorabilia.

The first meeting of the Menard-Kimble-Mason Texas Teacher Retired Association (MKM TRTA) will meet on Thursday, September 5, 2019. It will begin at 11 a.m. at the Menard Community Center. The unit now has 137 members on the roster . There will be some changes coming up, and members will be advised about them.
The Odeon theater will bring live theater to Mason Saturday September 22 at 7:00PM. Texas Comedies and Crank Collections presents their musical comedy The Feud: The Most Dangerous Musical Comedy in the West. After the Civil War, outlaw bands and vigilante groups fought over land and cattle, and blood feuds were common.
Enrollment for the 2019-2020 schoolyear is underway for Kingdom Kids, River of Life’s Mom’s Day Out program. Kingdom Kids mission is to provide a loving, Christ-centered environment where children are nurtured and the mother’s needs are met. Daily activities for children ages 3 months to 4 years old include Bible and age appropriate pre-school lessons, music time, crafts, and outside play plus added events throughout the schoolyear.
