Dear Editor,
As a very satisfied and constant member of Central Texas Electric Cooperative since 1964, having seen a thing or two in that time span, I have never seen anything like the venomous Guest Editorial which appeared in the weekend edition of your newspaper. If I had put my name on that letter, if my mother were still alive she would say, "shame on you for not telling the truth and then making it worse by putting your name to it."
The first glaring error in that artide was stating that ...
Treasured Years
I’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks to Mason ISD, the community of Mason, and my family for the retirement party given to me last Saturday at Lea Lou’s. There is no way to express what this meant to Michele and me. Instead of me getting a retirement party, we felt we should have been giving it as it has been such a wonderful experience working in Mason for the last 33 years.
City Meeting
I want to take this opportunity to say how proud I am to live in Mason. Last Wednesday was a marathon of civic involvement.
Attending the StoneLeaf Development presentation followed by a city commissioners meeting required a commitment of time. All those with questions and concerns were respectful. Differing opinions were treated with the same respect.
Dear Aunt June,
I’m so glad we spoke recently. You sounded awesome as you always do. It was always a joy to greet you on the phone with “how’s the best looking Aunt on the planet doing today” which I know brought a smile to you as you knew I meant it.
I don’t think I ever told you about what a crush I had on you as a city slicker staying on the ranch.

"Can I Get an Amen!?"
In the course of my life, I've had to stand up in front of people and talk on many occasions. It all began years ago in Carlene Brollier's 5th grade class, and she laid the groundwork for a lifetime of public speaking.
Following her, I had Glendene Underwood, then Billie Phillips.
Mason began tournament play on June 2nd and 3rd in Burnet. Mason’s first round game was against Burnet who ended as tournament champions. Burnet jumped out to an early lead and the Punchers were not able to recover. Returning Saturday Mason showed up determined. They beat Hamilton (25-2), Brady (16-4) and Llano (10-8) for a rematch with Burnet and an opportunity to play in the championship game.

The collection of piano sheet music of the early 1900s currently on display for the month of June at the M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library was originally owned by the late Marie Jordan Leifeste of Mason, Texas. Marie was born in Plehweville (Art), Texas, in 1899. Her education began in 1908 at the Plehweville School, and she began to learn music, specifically the piano, during this time.
