The National FFA Organization awarded a $1,000.00 Chevy Trucks scholarship to Steeley Smith of the Mason FFA. The scholarship is sponsored by Bob Price Chevrolet Buick GMC. Smith plans to use the funds to pursue a degree at Texas Tech University.
The scholarship is one of 1,888 awarded through the National FFA Organization's scholarship program this year.
Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” having conquered the Hill Country (April) and Llano (May) are staying in Mason for our June potluck luncheon, to be held at the home of Scarlet Puncher Brenda Koepke, on Monday, June 12th, at 11:30 AM. As part of our mission of absolutely insisting on enjoying life to the fullest, we are always glad to have a new member (Brenda) host, because we are nothing if not nosy, and this means we get to see her house!

Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines are coming to the Odeon Saturday June 17 and that is great. But what is nearly as great is that the Odeon Preservation Association has broken ground and has even poured the foundation for the highly anticipated and much needed addition.
The new add-on will include dressing rooms, a green room for performers, backstage restrooms, work space and storage.
Peggy Ann Lohn, age 70, of Fredonia, Texas passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017, at her residence.
Peggy was born March 4, 1947, in Gorman, Texas, to Jesse Lee Kuykendall & Mildred Mavis (Murrah) Kuykendall. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Texas Wesleyan College and additional certification from Howard Payne University.
She taught Jr.High and High School science and was Jr.
Kenneth Larimore, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, June 1 at the age of 86.
Survivors include his children Mark Larimore and wife Pam of LaVernia, John Larimore and wife Vicky of Richardson, Jill Merritt of Richardson and Joe Larimore of Garland. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren Lindsay and drew Merritt, Jamie Larimore and Jeffrey Campbell and 7 great-grandchildren along with the mother of his children Ruth Larimore and close family friend Dorothy Tatsch.

June Ellen McDougal Brandenberger died peacefully at her home in Mason Thursday morning, June 1, 2017. She was born June 19, 1926 in Mason to Grover and Estella Hofmann McDougal. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church. June Ellen graduated from Mason High School in 1942. She married Horace Brandenberger February 12, 1944 in St.
VFW Post 8554 and the VFW Auxiliary Post 8554 are hosting a new member meeting on Tuesday June 20th at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the Greater Works Community Development Center located at 601 Brazos St. Hot dogs cooked by the VFW and desserts made by the Auxiliary will be served.
The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veteran service organizations and our members are the relatives of those who have served in overseas combat.
