On June 5, the Hill Country Memorial Medical Group will welcome pulmonologist Dure Fernandez, M.D. She will see adult patients in Fredericksburg at the Eckert-Smith building at 1009 S. Milam St., Suite 3.

The annual reunion will be June 10th in Doss, as described in the blyers, hopefully received by all the family members.

The Mason County Historical Society will be holding a Ft. Mason Restoration Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Fort Mason located at 204 West Spruce Street on top of Post Hill. The society will be placing several plaques at the fort to thank the project donors.
The Society has been working on this restoration project of the Officers Headquarters for several years and it is finally finished.
Elijah Dickinson, 2014 Mason High School graduate, has been named to the Tarleton University Scholastic Honors Dean's List for the Spring 2017 semester.

The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, May 23rd, for it’s weekly luncheon meeting. There were 32 members and 1 visitor in attendance.

Like many Americans, I miss my old college days. It’s been almost three weeks since I graduated from Harding. I remember the day I graduated like it was less than three weeks ago. And right after the ceremony someone came up to me and asked what I’m going to do now.
Television commercials really stomp on my nerves and intelligence. Some, I have no idea as to what they are selling. Some, silly and some, just down right stupid. Like, who wears a gown to pour Clorox? That’s just stupid. Too, who Swiffers wearing three inch heels?
I change channels to the cooking shows during commercials.

Back in the 20th century, kids--as well as adults who sometimes acted like them--seemed destined to “make their own fun.” Not too much in the way of “time-passing” was in play if it cost anything, thus fertile minds were often in “creative mode,” if only in the sharing of jokes and stories.
