Running businesses require constant decisions. To make those decisions, there are many things that must be examined on a constant basis: productivity, efficiency, and perhaps most importantly, accountability.
In just our small business, we have to look at the changing technology and determine how many employees it takes to perform certain functions.
The Texas AgriLife Extension Service Mason County is accepting applications to the Youth Agricultural Lifetime Leadership (YALL) program. 4-H members that have a
strong interest in production agriculture and are outgoing high school freshman through outgoing seniors or ages 15-18 as of September 1, 2016, should apply. The program is limited to 30 students.
The weather was warm and quite humid yesterday, but another record crowd of golfers showed up to ply their golfing skills in spite of the rather uncomfortable conditions. The first team to return to the clubhouse was the one led by James Toeppich. His team was made up of Donald, Logan, Randy, Bobby, and Mike, and they were rather happy with the -6 that they posted.
Riata Service Organization Mother’s Day luncheon was held on May 4th at the Richard P. Eckert Civic Center with 105 guests attending. Tables were beautifully decorated with different patterns of china, silver, glassware and fresh flower arrangements to complement the table setting. A wonderful salad lunch was served.
Some of the members' vintage wedding dresses and going away outfits were displayed around the room for guests to enjoy.

The Mason Puncher Club met on April 11 at Mason High School and elected the following slate of new officers: Reese Kerr, President – Curtis Dudney, Vice President – Kim Thompson, Secretary – David Culver, Treasurer. The new group promises to carry on with the task of supporting Mason Puncher Sports at a high level, while adding new initiatives and programs to provide more value to membership.
Thirty six girls from three residential children homes traveled to Camp Gene Ashby, Mason,TX, ready to catch some fish! The girls came from Big Springs Ranch for Children, Leakey; Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Round Rock; and Presbyterian Children’s Home, Itasca.
The groups came to Camp Gene Ashby Friday evening, May 13.

Wilda Fay Ellison Jennings, at the age of 97, passed from this life into Eternity with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 13, 2016, in Llano, Texas.
Wilda Fay was born on August 20, 1918, at the home of her parents in Fredonia, Mason County, Texas. She was the first-born of two daughters to W.C.
Flora Marie Probst Haines
Our beloved mother, Flora Marie (Probst) Haines, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 15, 2016.
She was born September 24, 1927, to Adolph Julius Probst and Bertha Pauline (Gross) Probst at Roosevelt, Texas, in Kimble County. At age three the family moved to the Long Mountain Community.

This Celebration will take place at the American Legion Post Hall, 237 Post Hill St., on Wed., May 25th, from 4 to 7 pm.
