The Mason County Republican Women will hold their first luncheon meeting of the new year at noon on Wednesday, January 20 in the Stribling Room of the Mason County Library. The guest speaker will be Attorney Mark Pulliam from Texans for Lawsuit Reform. Mr. Pulliam has had a long and distinguished career in litigation with a specialty in Labor and Employment Law.
Members and quests begin gathering at 11:30 with the luncheon starting promptly at noon.

The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library will offer free computer classes in January and February. Carol Tucker will be the instructor. Photoshop will be a four-session class that will be held on the following dates: Feb. 2, Feb. 9, Feb. 16, and Feb. 23.The class will meet at 6:00 P.M.
The Association will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, January 14, 2016. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. At the annual meeting, members are allowed to elect new officers and directors of the association. Members attending also decide on the amount set for dues and bounties for the following year.
The Menard/Kimble/Mason unit of the Texas Retired Teachers Association will begin 2016 with a meeting at Nacho's Restaurant in Mason at 11:00, Thursday, Jan. 7. State Representative Andy Murr will be the guest speaker and will allow time for a Q&A about legislative matters of interest to retired educators. Lunch will be Dutch treat with attendees' ordering from the menu.
All retired school employees are invited to attend, as well as anyone interested in supporting Texas's retired educators.
It was strongly suggested by a man's wife that his New Year's resolution be that he would no longer go out with his buddies all night drinking and getting into fights. As you can imagine it was not long into the New Year that his buddies were able to talk him into going out with them.

2015 ended with a bang for Mason's Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women "of a certain age" who meet monthly for fun, food, and fellowship. Our annual Christmas party was, as always, a huge success. 27 Scarlet Punchers and guests feasted, visited, and survived the eagerly-anticipated Chinese auction. Most everybody remembered their party manners (no names mentioned here - my lips are sealed) and no blood was shed as items were unwrapped, stolen, hidden, stolen again, gloated over, enjoyed, etc ...
Just a reminder that this weekend is the gathering of about thirty- five to forty wounded and paralyzed veterans for the Big Hunt.
We trust that Mason County folks and surrounding citizens will support this event this year as they have in the past with a large gathering. We'll have plenty of food, but we always hope you bring dessert and sides for the meal.
We have had several donations of knives, coolers, and firearms for the hunt.
Dell Roy King, of Kerrville, Texas passed away peacefully into the blue skies on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the age of 90.
Dell Roy was born in Mason, Texas on October 16, 1925 to George Benjamin King and Hattie Emma (Simon) King. Dell Roy was a 1943 graduate of Mason High School and was the quarterback on the football team.
Wanda Harper Bush, 84, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, in the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital in Brady. She is survived by a daughter, Shanna Bush, brother A.C. Harper, brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Carol Bush, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was born to Alvin and Gussie Martin Harper on October 6, 1931.
