Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age” who absolutely insist on enjoying life, have already had enough summer, and it’s only the first week of June. Kerrville, Texas (May 24, 2018) - On Saturday, May 12 Schreiner University officially conducted the spring commencement ceremony. The May 2018 Commencement Ceremony was Schreiner University’s 36th baccalaureate graduation since conferring its first four-year degrees in 1984. “Boss” Lion Jim Heidelberg convened the weekly meeting of the Mason Lions Club on May 22. Thirty-five persons were present, including six guests and two caged diamondback rattlesnakes affectionately known as “Death” and “Taxes”. Lion Marty Bentson presented his co-worker and guest, Bryan Page. Lion Trey Carrington welcomed his guest, Don Gray, owner of The Fish Camp on the Llano River at Hedwigs Hill.
Congratulations to the Seniors that crossed the stage Friday night and are now getting ready for the next adventures in their lives. Here in Mason the summer heat has finally arrived and school is out so the kids are free and likely underfoot. Luckily we managed to find enough young adults that wanted to be lifeguards, and now that they too are out of school we are preparing the City swimming pool for summer fun.
Hill Country Memorial (HCM) is pleased to announce it has received a $1.5 million dollar grant from The Cailloux Foundation for the support of the expansion and renovation of the HCM Obstetrics (OB) Department. Furthermore, HCM announces that the Women’s Pavilion will be renamed the Kathleen C. Cailloux Birthing Center in honor of the support and generosity of The Cailloux Foundation. The Bob Bullock Texas History Museum is the official history museum of Texas. INDIANAPOLIS – Hardin-Simmons track and field athlete Hasanai 'Go' Chanriang has qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship in the 400 hurdles. Chanriang has the sixth-best time among the 20 qualifiers with a 52.41. He actually ran a career-best 52.33 at Texas Tech but it was adjusted for elevation. He will be looking to become the second Division III all-American for the Cowboys.
