With the lights around the Square, the Nativity on the lawn, the new banners and the light tree in Heritage Park we can certainly see Christmas in Mason. I hope that you are finding time to spend with family and friends, and as we get closer to Christmas day I hope that you find extra time to remember just why we celebrate this special time of year.
The Christmas Season is full speed ahead. I am not exactly ready: no gifts purchased, no cookies baked, house not cleaned.
However, in a clever move, I was able to convince my beautiful granddaughter, the same one that at age 22 months undecorated the tree, ate some (glass) ornaments, and broke the wings off my little ceramic angels, to decorate the tree.
Time.
It passes.
It flies.
It stops still.
Or it marches on.
Time heals all.
Give it time.
Tap your foot and keep time.
We take time to make clocks.
And watches.
And stopwatches.
So we can measure time.
Be on time.
Check the time.
Set the time.
Or watch the clock.
Inevitably time passes.
It doesn’t care.
Most clocks are digital these days.
Still, there is Switzerland.
And the cuckoo clock.
A timeless timepiece.
China makes clocks now.
Like nearly everything else.
Times change.
But the classic ...
Friday Nights Continue
For most high schools, the lights of Friday night have now moved from the stadium to the gymnasium. Those schools have finished their football seasons and moved on to basketball. As predictable as the move from fall into winter, this change happens for most schools every year.
And then, there are those schools that are involved in the UIL football playoffs.
Thanksgiving is here
Christmas is near
And it’s time to give gifts
To those you hold dear
So is it special
Or is it mundane
You can give something “special”
Or it can just be the same
I found the greatest shop
A great store owner – she’s true
And the best ever gift
I could give to you
You won’t find it in Walmart
On-line or at the mall
It is so very special
From this shop that is small

And loved by us all
Go visit a small business
You won’t find love at the ma ...
Thanksgiving
Dear Nacho & Crew,
Thank you for the wonderful Thanksgiving Day feast that you prepared.
There were lots of out-of town people as well as many who didn't want to cook.
Thanks to the servers, dishwasher and everyone who worked that day. It was all very nice.
May God Bless You All

Voter registration
Dear Editor,
A couple of weeks ago, I talked with two people from Mason who were not allowed to participate in the last election. They went to the courthouse on November 8th, presented their identification as they had always done for previous elections, but this time they were told they were not registered!
Breastfeeding
Dear Editor,
One of the most effective measures to help promote a healthier life for an infant is through breastfeeding. About 81% of mothers begin breastfeeding their infant at birth, but only about 22% of these mothers continue breastfeeding for at least 6 months after delivery (Center of Disease Control and Prevention, 2016).
After the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving dinners, visits with friends and family, or traveling, it’s time to slow down and start thinking about Christmas. We have a great selection of Christmas fiction, DVDs, easy books, and books on CD to help you get into the spirit of the season.
Thanks
The boys have just left, and Thanksgiving is officially over for another year. As usual, it went by far too quickly. Before I lapse into a post-feast food-induced coma, I’d like to share a few thoughts about the holiday, a few memories of past events, and maybe a hope for future times spent with family.
