Thanks Lowe’s of Mason and the Mason community, the Mason County Food Bank will start the year with food for our neighbors who are facing tough times. The Food Bank, a ministry of the Mason Ministerial Alliance, depends upon donations of food and money to operate. Mike Rychlik, Lowe’s manager, organized and promoted this event and the community responded in an astounding way.
About Cheeto, he was rescued in the summer of 2017 and subsequently adopted. Now about four years old, he has come back to us due to his adopter’s illness and life changes. Luckily he was able to return to his former foster home and quickly settled in. He is a sweet little guy with a lot of positive attributes: housebroken, crate trained, loves cats!, makes instant friends with other dogs, is an expert at cuddling and boy is he cute.
It is common knowledge that 2020 has been a challenging year and there have been many ways in which our daily lives have been changed and our expectations have not always been met. The Mason Community Foundation, and the local Thrift Store, would like to share with you how we have met the challenges of this year and have continued to thrive.
This year, several readers have contacted me and asked what individuals can do to help restore and conserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of Mason County. Even a small yard or garden provides opportunities for positive action. Ranch owners may wish to take on larger projects. Anyone can volunteer for projects and workdays with the Llano River Alliance or Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Area.
We will be closed this week on Thursday, December 31 and Friday, January 1. We are also still offering curbside services only. Have a Happy New Year!

Mason County was represented at the annual meeting of the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization in December. Six delegates from Mason County Farm Bureau traveled to Waco for the one-day business session where they helped shape the future of Texas Farm Bureau (TFB).
“Texas Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization,” Will Frey, Mason County Farm Bureau president, said.
The year 2020 has affected us all in many ways, and we are all looking forward to a better 2021. Fund raising opportunities has been virtually non-existent and most non for profits are needing a bit of help. Crosby Cemetery has been without a proper sign for over 6 years and the Crosby Cemetery Association is in the process of having a nice sign erected.
The library building is currently closed but we are offering curbside services once again. We will be closed on December 24th and 25th for Christmas, and closed next week on December 31 and January 1.
