Led by junior Drew Ritter and sophomore Mark Kuebel, BHS UIL academic team members finished the year tied for fourth place overall at the state meet last week at UT Austin.
Ritter brought home the state championship in informative speaking and finished second in Lincoln-Douglas debate.
Kuebel was this year's individual state champion in computer science.
Blanco County experienced a record rainfall the evening of Saturday, May 23 and into Sunday, May 24 when nearly eight inches of rain fell, causing the Blanco River to escape its banks with a wall of water that left a path of devastation in its wake.

Blanco's Flood Assistance Center has moved from the Byers Building on the town square to Trinity Lutheran Church where it will maintain operations, in all likelihood, through the summer, according to Wayne Gosnell, a volunteer assistant to Mayor Bruce Peele.
The assistance center cranked up as fast as flood waters inundated the Blanco River on Memorial Day weekend.
They are called the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), and most of them are firefighters from all over the Lone Star Sate; however, after seeing the work they have done to clean up Blanco State Park, one might be forgiven if they were mistaken for superheroes.

Mayor, City Council Express Appreciation to Community for Disaster Response
In his first public comments as mayor of Blanco, Bruce Peele said he was "blown away by the outpouring of good will that occurred" in the response of the Blanco community to the Memorial Day Flood.

Judy Spencer makes terracotta clay pots. She travels to a variety of different festivals, flea markets and events to sell her wares, but Blanco's Lavender Fest is her favorite.
"It was a really good weekend," she said. "There were great crowds and we had very good sales. I always love coming to this festival.
American Legion Chaplain Joe Garcia wants residents to understand the Flood Assistance Center has moved from the Byers Building to Trinity Lutheran Church.
"We stand ready to help anyone who comes to seek aid," Garcia said. "We now have a Blanco County Flood Disaster Relief Fund available. The fund is made up from money that has been largely donated by the community and collected from fundraisers like the concert."
