AUSTIN — The 85th Texas Legislature convened at the Capitol on July 18 for its first called session, the main purpose being for lawmakers to extend the life of certain state agencies scheduled for termination, and then to proceed to other matters.
At the urging of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, the Senate moved quickly to pass legislation continuing the function of the Texas Medical Board and several other health-care related state oversight boards through 2019.
Beginning March 22, Hill Country Memorial Medical Group will welcome an additional provider to its Johnson City Medical Clinic. Byron Hutson, MPAS, PA-C, will begin seeing patients at the clinic on Wednesdays.
“In order to meet our patients’ expectations and the community’s needs, Byron will provide additional support in Johnson City,” said Carrie Culpepper, HCM Medical Group Director.
Hutson will initially see patients with acute illness and injury and those who need more urgent care.

Folks from all over Blanco County and well beyond gathered at the Fair Grounds Saturday evening, October 3rd, to celebrate the 16th annual Wild Game Dinner. As always, the wild game cuisine was excellent, and attendees enjoyed participating in raffles, the "Dear Blind", silent auction, live auction and Cactus Country band that closed the event.
It was evident that the economy and other events conflicting with the date affected the turnout and donations.
My friend, Sandy, and I get great fun out of being the first to text the other whenever we first glimpse a "Comanche Moon." That's when the full moon rises out of the eastern horizon just after sunset, catching the rays of the sitting sun, and painting it a deep orange color.
Twin Sisters Historic Dance Hall was built in the 1870's by Max Krueger who came from Germany. The historic hall served the community as a community dance hall where families shared food amd stories as families danced the night away. It was a place of community gatherings for good times as well as the bad times.
