Faith…that is a big word that encompasses a lot of definitions. What is it? Faith is a feeling of belief and something that allows us, as people, to get through difficulties life presents. It’s that feeling of “I won’t give up” or “ I won’t stop” it’s self actualization, it’s faith, it’s hope and it’s belief in a greater power. Please join us in learning more about this debilitating disease that is stealing our most precious possessions, our memories.
Known as “A real standout amongst the growing list of wineries and tasting rooms along 290.” (yelp) the Vinovium Growler Lounge in Johnson City has been a key part of the Texas Hill Country wine scene for nearly three years now. Specializing in wines on tap and wine-based cocktails, this winery is offering a unique view on Texas wine which is accessible to wine lovers and novices alike.
Don Casey of Cypress Mill will be honored for outstanding contributions to the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation program at a Conservation Awards Banquet for Region 2 on May 7, 2019 in Wall. Area 2 consists of 44 districts in the Texas Hill Country, and west to El Paso.
It’s that time of year, and Blanco County Aggies proudly welcome our new freshmen students who will be attending Texas A&M College Station and Galveston next fall. Blanco County Aggie Moms are selling raffle tickets to raise money for scholarships for these deserving young people, and our Scholarship Raffle includes four awesome prizes.
We have been talking recently about Home Health. We have covered Nursing, and Therapy answered some misconceptions, and discussed the benefits of being able to stay at home while getting Nursing and therapy. This week I want to discuss how you choose a Home Health agency. I was asked to talk about the annual report given to the Blanco County Commissioner's Court and Judge Bray. In an earlier newspaper article, I explained how the Commission was created, but I did not explain the responsibilities of the Blanco County Historical Commission. One of the responsibilities is to annually report the accomplishments of the Blanco County Historical Commission to the Texas Historical Commission and to the County Commissioner's Court. In February the Woman’s club met at the First United Methodist Church Activity center, our guest speaker was Carlos Martinez, general manager of Lowe’s Grocery in Johnson City. Carlos defined the intricacies of operating a viable small town grocery in the current market that has to compete with megastores and on-line entities.
Blanco County Officials; including District Attorney, Sonny McAfee, Blanco County Attorney Deborah Earley, Blanco County Sheriff Don Jackson, Blanco Police Chief Mike Ritchey, Johnson City Police Chief, Ross Allen, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center. The agreement acknowledges the importance of the Multidisciplinary approach as the core of the CAC model.
The 41st Annual Wilhelm and Elisa De Cloudt Schaeferkoeter Family Reunion, hosted by the Monroe Schaeferkoeter family, will be held on Saturday, September 22, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The covered dish meal will begin around 12:30. Each family is asked to bring a meat, vegetable, and / or dessert to share.
