At the Llano Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) meeting on Monday night, it was announced that the lights and polls for the John L. Kuykendall Arena and Event Center are in and awaiting the City Crew to start installing them. They were paid for from this year’s budget. It will make it much easier to find your vehicle when you attend an event in the evening.

An unauthorized spill of wastewater occurred from Kingsland Municipal Utility District with an estimated date of the spill being July 27. As of August 6, it is estimated that 50,000 gallons of waste was spilled. The description of the area affected is downstream of the Llano River to Wirtz Dam.
The City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 3 on the proposed 2019-2020 City Budget. They are proposing a tax rate of $0.68737 per $100. The proposed budget will raise more total taxes than last year’s budget by $29,938.44. That is a three percent increase. Of that amount, $16,434 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year.

On Saturday, August 17, the Llano Lions Club held their first Sporting Clays for a Cause event fundraiser at Ink’s Ranch. The hidden gem is located just 13 miles southwest of Llano and is rich with history and natural beauty. Though the ranch is private, the Inks family partnered with the Llano Lions Club for the event.

On Saturday, July 27, 600 backpacks were given out at Packsaddle Elementary at Llano County’s Back to School Blast. Most students came from Llano ISD schools, with a few from neighboring schools.
Volunteers worked the week leading up to the event to pack backpacks, organize the “shoe store”, set up the hair salon and much more.
The first patrons began lining up at 6:00 a.m.
