Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued an opinion last Thursday on the Llano County vehicle policy. The opinion summary said that the county may only put into place vehicle policies for sheriff’s office vehicles that do not “unreasonably interfere with the sheriff’s constitutional or statutory duties.”
The second part of the opinion dealt with the county auditor’s ability to access records on the use of county vehicles.

Two new buildings at Llano Elementary saw 385 students. Packsaddle Elementary School welcomed 501 youngsters, while Llano Junior High saw 407, and Llano High School had 533.

Recent rains have brought about the end of this summer’s burn ban in Llano County.
The Llano County Commissioners voted unanimously Monday morning to lift the county-wide burn ban. The burn ban was put in place July 11.
Rainfall over the last week caused road closures at times in the county. County roads 102, 103 and 152 were each closed multiple times last week.
The 2016-17 school year marks the first that Llano High School will be helmed by a female principal, but Principal Jenifer Neatherlin is no stranger to the position.
Neatherlin comes to Llano after two years as principal at Abel Junior High in Midland, a school of 1,000 students. That is double the students she will be responsible for this year.

It was a night to recognize the accomplishments of those that volunteer their time to the Llano County Extension Office, held at St. James Lutheran Church in the Schorlemmer Hall. Marilyn Hale, former Llano County Extension Agent, received the Friend of Extension award presented by present County Extension agents Jamie Osbourn and Jennifer Page.

A Kingsland man was killed on Sunday afternoon when he was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 281 just north of the Loop 163 intersection near Blanco.
Blanco Police stated that Kyle McAlister, 66, died in the crash that took place at about 4:15 p.m.
The fatality was the second one in recent weeks involving a Kingsland man in the Blanco area.
