The Castell Community Center will host an open house at the Castell School honoring Dan and Hatty Sagebiel and Vera Honig for their many years of dedication and service to the Castell School, Castell community and Llano County.
The open house will be Saturday, Aug. 20, from 2-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served and there will be dominoes and games after the open house.
Daniel Sagebiel moved to the Castell community with his parents Ben and Nettie Sagebiel in 1930.

Llano ISD schools met the standards for accountability ratings, the Texas Education Agency announced Monday. All four campuses, along with the school district as a whole, met the standards in each of the four categories measured – student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps and postsecondary readiness.
“It’s still in the very early stages, but we’re certainly happy with how things look at this point,” said David Waters, Llano ISD assistant superintendent.

The Llano County Commissioners proposed to keep the effective tax rate level at Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting.
They proposed a total rate of 0.30459 for fiscal year 2017, a slight decrease from the 0.31620 rate set a year ago. However, the rate will raise an additional $132,751 from last year due to increased property values.
A dispatcher for the Llano County Sheriff’s Office turned herself in last week after being wanted on a felony warrant.
Kathy Osbourn, 62, of Llano, was booked into Llano County Jail on Saturday after turning herself into authorities on a felony warrant for hindering apprehension or prosecution of a known felon, which is a third degree felony.
Llano Recycling Opportunity seeks funds for a new baler, and may have to reduce hours if it is not able to be purchased.
The equipment would replace a broken baler which cannot be repaired. The baler was a 20-year old piece of equipment. The cost for a new baler is $15,000.
If the non-profit LRO is unable to purchase a new baler soon, it could be forced to reduce its hours of operation.
