Hill Country Memorial has been listed as a “100 Great Hospitals in America” by Becker’s Hospital Reviews, which in January recognized HCM CEO Jayne Pope as one of “50 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know.” The current list includes hospitals from around the country. Becker’s Hospital Reviews’ recognition is yet another indication of the quality of care that HCM provides for its patients and community.
Over 500 Central Texas Electric Co-op customers, members and spouses, gathered in the Fredericksburg High School Auditorium on August 18, as CTEC hosted its 68th Annual Members’ Meeting. CEO Robert A. Loth III welcomed them and introduced the eleven-member Board of Directors. Jack Asbill from Mason provided an invocation. The business of the meeting included the election of four directors to represent their respective districts on the Board.

The Llano County Sheriff’s office arrested a Kingsland man in connection with several fires that were on the evening of Thursday, August 13 along Hwy 71 and on a number of rural roads. Calls began coming in to 911 around 8:04pm on Thursday night, starting with a report of fire on Yeager Creek Road.
On August 27, 2015 the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Park will celebrate what would have been LBJ’s 107th birthday. National Park Tours of the Texas White House will be free to the public and begin at 10:00 a.m. The traditional wreath will be laid at the President’s grave for his birthday.

Fredericksburg SHINES, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about green living and sustainability practices, will host its third annual Fredericksburg and Gillespie County fall tour of homes to spotlight local examples of green living practices. Ten homes with various green features and four electric vehicles will be showcased on the tour on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m.
