The Central Texas population is growing as visitors venture to the Texas Hill Country and fall in love with the boundless beauties it has to offer. As more people make the move to the area, the increasing population will affect the water supply. John Cayce saw a need for water resources in the area, so he started a water well service in 1998, focusing on irrigation systems for houses and coastal fields.
Marble Falls—The Marble Falls/ Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the debut of Slide Marble Falls, an 850-foot water slide that will run through downtown Marble Falls on Saturday, June 15. The slide, owned by Urban Slide, is a gigantic inflatable slip-n-slide that will rise 40 feet above Main Street and run the length of nearly three football fields through the middle of downtown.
Legislature Passes Property Tax, School Finance Reform While the Memorial Day holiday was observed across Texas, lawmakers stayed busy at the state Capitol, voting on key bills in the final three days of the 86th Texas Legislature’s 140-day regular session. Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and House Speaker Dennis Bonnen did what they jointly set out to do at the beginning of the session in January: They exercised their leadership skills well enough for the Senate and House to pas ...
As we see our spring season maturing into a full growing season and heading into summer, there are a few plants that have almost taken over the garden. One is cilantro. HCA member Mark Ward will discuss meteorites—what they are, where they come from, and why they are significant. Meteorites not only grant us a glimpse into the conditions of the early Solar System but studying them helps us understand our own geologic past, and may well help us defend ourselves against future meteorite impacts. Ward has bee ...

Hightower’s speech was a call to a ...
A fly in fishing trip to a remote lake in northern Saskatchewan is an experience that anyone that loves the outdoors and fishing should consider doing. I believe its lack of information that deters many fishermen from enjoying the fun of catching fish that have never seen a hook and dining on daily shore lunches of fresh walleye fillets is a pristine setting that has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. In a couple weeks, I will be heading up to Iskwatikan Lake Lodge for the third con ...

Of the more than 7,000 bills Senate and House members have filed proposing to create, amend or repeal a law, only 56 had passed and been forwarded to the governor's desk for final approval as of Sunday, May 19.
