Enrollment for the 2018 Summer Program is underway for Kingdom Kids, River of Life’s Mom’s Day Out program. Kingdom Kids mission is to provide a loving, Christ-centered environment where children are nurtured and mother’s needs are met. Summer activities for children ages 3 months to 5th grade include age appropriate Bible stories, music time, crafts, baking, and recreation time. This summer we will be offering (2) three week sessions for ages 3 months – 5th grade.

This year’s Llano County Beef & Range Field Day is set for Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the John L. Kuykendall Arena & Events Center, 2200 Ranch Road 152, about 1.7 miles west of Llano. The program will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and there is no charge to the participant.
“Geese with Attitude” is a unique quilt now on display in the Stribling Room of the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, located at 410 Post Hill St. This gorgeous quilt was an auction item at the 2017 Riata Fall Fundraiser that benefitted the Mason Clinic. It was constructed and pieced by Pam Scott and quilted by Tess Geistweidt.
The Mason County Historical Commission will be sponsoring the annual spring meeting of the Edwards Plateau Historical Association Meeting at the Mason County Library in the Stribling Room on Saturday, May 5th with registration and coffee beginning at 9:00 a.m. The program will begin at 10:00 with a catered lunch break at noon catered by Nachos.
Hill Country Astronomers (HCA) will meet at 6:30 PM, Monday, May 7, in the HEB Activity Room at Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg. The presentation will be the second in a short series of programs that HCA will present over the next few months aimed at bringing novices “up-to-speed” with club members who have been doing this for a while.
Central Texas Electric Cooperative (CTEC) will be collecting food at each of their four office locations in Fredericksburg, Kingsland, Llano and Mason. Individuals that bring in a donation will receive a free koozie. In Fredericksburg, CTEC is working with the Hill Country Community Needs Council in their Food 4 Kids program.
When traveling this week, I noticed the roadside flowers are mostly yellow. Usually, yellow flowers are thick in late May and June. We really need rain. Perhaps we should organize a community prayer meeting for rain. Sunday, May 6, is Communion Sunday at the Art United Methodist Church. The Art United Methodist Women will have their Spring Luncheon at the parsonage on May 8, at 11:30.
