Registration for the annual youth cheer camp has begun. This camp is for ages 4 years old through rising 8th-graders. Pick up forms in the offices at school or the administration office on the square. The camp will be held Monday, August 6th through Friday, August 10th from 9:00 - 12:00.
This is the weekend, the event we have all been waiting for! (That is to say, at least at the Senior Center.) There is still time to get tickets for the Mason Senior Center fund raiser. You can expect a good time with some medicinal humor at our Tumbleweed Smith guest speaker event.

The April 4th article submitted by Riata to the Mason County News indicated that Riata had passed a motion to acquire a “wildflower grant for the central area” of Heritage Park. The article should have stated, according to official minutes of the meeting, that Riata would “look into” a grant for adding wildflowers to Heritage Park with permission of the County Commissioners.
The Sheep and Goat Predator Management Board will be holding its required election to replace one director from each of their three districts. Mason County is represented in District Two along with 12 other counties. Three members currently represent these 12 counties. Nominations are due by July 9, 2018 to P.O.
Enrollment for the 2018 Summer Program is underway for Kingdom Kids, River of Life’s Mom’s Day Out program. Kingdom Kids mission is to provide a loving, Christ-centered environment where children are nurtured and mother’s needs are met. Summer activities for children ages 3 months to 5th grade include age appropriate Bible stories, music time, crafts, baking, and recreation time. This summer we will be offering (2) three week sessions for ages 3 months – 5th grade.
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, was founded as a day for those who have died in our nation’s service. Here in Mason County, members of the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, and volunteers, place more than 700 American flags on the graves of Mason veterans, located in more than twenty-five cemeteries throughout the county.
Sue Kaan hands on acryclic prickly pear cactus demo on Monday, June 4th, 10:00 a.m. - Noon. $5 The monthly demo at the Llano Fine Art Guild will be held Monday, June 4th at 10:00 am. The hands on demo will be presented by Sue Kaan from Mason, Texas. Sue will be demonstrating how to paint prickly pear cactus with the beautiful yellow blooms that have been so plentiful this year. Dr. Joe Wilkinson from the Community Joint Center in San Angelo will present a program on knee and hip surgery with the latest on robotic surgery at the Stribling Room of the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, 410 Post Hill St. He will speak at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29.
Beginning in June, the Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center will offer small group swim and aquatic exercise classes for children. The Parent & Tot swim classes are designed for children aged 12 to 36 months old and their parents or caregivers. Classes familiarize children with the water, teach simple movements, and build trust between parent and child. “The classes encourage young children to explore the water in a fun and safe way,” said instructor Diane Patteson.
