The Bob Bullock Texas History Museum is the official history museum of Texas. The Bullock collaborates with more than seven hundred museums, libraries, archives, and individuals to display original historical artifacts and produce exhibitions that illuminate and celebrate Texas history and culture. Nearly 8 million visitors from all over the world have explored Texas history and culture at the Bullock Texas State History Museum since it opened in 2001. The newest exhibition, RODEO!
Rain makes me smile. I don’t know how much it rained but we are so grateful for the rain. School is out Friday, May 25th, ending with graduation. The kids are happy. Grandma is wondering what the summer holds in store for us. Happy Birthday to Gary Donop on May 27th. Happy Anniversary to Emeth and Willie Bauer on May 23rd and William and Lisa Howard on May 28th. The Youth Agricultural Lifetime Leadership opportunity is a 6 day exploration for youth in 4-H Districts 7,10,11 & 12 to experience South Texas agricultural production. Youth that have a strong interest in production agriculture who are outgoing high school freshmen through outgoing seniors or ages 15—18 as of September 1, 2016 are invited to apply and 30 youth will be selected.
That north wind is blowing in notorious a tumbleweed, Tumbleweed Smith to be exact. He first performed in Mason at the Mason Chamber of Commerce banquet to a packed house in February 2011. He has aired interviews on his syndicated radio show with some of our memorable members of the county.
FREE FOOD!!!! This summer in the Mason ISD cafeteria. ALL children 18 yrs and younger are welcome and encouraged to come eat Breakfast and Lunch. Breakfast will be served from 7:15 until 8 a.m., Monday thru Thursday. Lunch from 11 a.m. until noon, Monday thru Thursday. The child does not have to be enrolled in the Mason schools to come eat.
Mason County Habitat for Humanity’s live and silent auctions will include works of art, custom designed jewelry, overnight getaways and much more this year! The Spring Benefit is on Saturday, May 19th, from 6 – 9 p.m. Tib and Chantel Scallon are hosting this year’s benefit at their beautiful venue, The Park at Scallon Ranch which is located on the east side of FM 386 less than three miles north of the Mason Square. The Ceynowas have had a wonderful week. Nephew Mitch Jordan and brother Fred Jordan organized the troops and the leaf mess is about gone. We have hauled six loads and have about one more load to go. On Sunday, we enjoyed a Mother’s day dinner cooked by grandson, John Sanders.
Every morning, from Monday through Friday, I make my morning commute to work. One of my highlights is listening to a short but entertaining radio program by Tumbleweed Smith called, “The Sound of Texas”. It’s both entertaining and educational and always very endearing. Tumbleweed Smith began the radio series in Big Spring, TX, and it has become the most widely syndicated feature radio show in Texas.
The Mason County Republican Women will hold their bimonthly luncheon on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 11:30 am in the Stribling Room at the Mason Library. Members and guests will gather at 11:30 am for meet and greet, with the luncheon starting promptly at noon. The program this month will focus on the Club’s awards of its annual scholarships to Mason High School seniors.
