The Republican Women’s Club had a convivial party at Lea Lou Co-op Saturday evening to welcome six new members to the club. President Joni Matthews hosted the party at the successful conclusion of this quarter’s membership drive. The Club will host Congressman Conaway for a morning coffee at 8:00 am on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the Eckert Library. The Club will meet at least every two months for interesting speakers on current matters of public interest.
It’s a Pink Fiesta and all women in Mason County are invited to attend. Invite your friends and join us Thursday, October 19th, 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 224 Broad Street. What is a Pink Fiesta? It is an awareness event for breast and cervical cancer that will help women discover how early detection can provide the best protection for these two cancers.
The Mason County AgriLife Extension office has partnered with the Texas Department of Agriculture to bring you 5 hours of speakers in one location on Wednesday, October 25. For your attendance, you will be given 5 CEU’s. The event will be held at the Eckert Civic Center, 1024 McKinley Ave in Mason from 8 AM to 2 PM.

Hill Country Memorial will host a free presentation about “Breast Cancer and the Challenges of Lymphedema” on Tues., Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. at the HCM Cancer Resource Center in the Brune Building (808 Reuben St.) in Fredericksburg. As part of ongoing diabetes education efforts, the Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center will host several seminars and classes beginning Oct. 12 through the end of the year at the HCM Wellness Center (1006 S. State Hwy. 16) 
in Fredericksburg. “Diabetes is a serious condition, but it can be managed and even prevented by taking action,” said Kim Thornton, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator.
