The Mason County Republican Women will hold their bimonthly meeting at noon on Wednesday, March 15th in the Stribling Room of the Mason County Library. The guest speaker will be David E. Heckert , Major US Army Retired. Dave is a specialist in Miiddle Eastern Affairs and a member of the Texas Border Volunteers and will update us on the latest developments on our southern border.

Four candidates have declared for the two at-large positions on the Mason I.S.D. Board. Early voting begins on April 24 and will be held at the school office. The election will be held in conjunction with the City of Mason election on May 6, and all voting will be at the Richard P.
Micah Walker, Mason County Extension Agent for Ag and Natural Resources has announced the dates for Steer validation tag orders from April 1 to April 20. Anyone wanting to show a steer at the at major shows in 2018 or the Texas State Fair in 2017 will need to order steer validation tags from the County Extension Office.
The Long Mountain Community Club will kick off the new year with the monthly meeting, Friday the 10th at 6:30 PM to be held at the Community Center. The bill of fair will be whatever is brought to eat—I don’t refuse anything??, so I guess that means Pot Luck. Remember, this club has been in existence since 1923, even before my time. The Llano Country Opry will be held at the Lantex Theater in Llano, on Saturday, March 11. The show will begin at 7:30 PM and admission is $15 per person. Tickets are now on sale at www.heartoftexascountry.com or by calling (325) 247-5354. Multi Award Winning instrumentalist Buck Trent and Pretty Miss Norma Jean will headline the monthly traditional country music show. Born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Trent started performing on WORD Radio at the age of 10.
Kimble Co. Hospital is holding a health mini-clinic today (March 8) in the Stribling Room of the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, 410 Post Hill Street, from 10:00-12:00. Tests for blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and New state of the art heart age testing and BMR Testing if criteria is met.
On March 31, April 1, 3 and 4, 2017 the Friends of the Library will hold their Annual Book and Bake Sale. Members of the Friends of the Library can browse and buy from 2:00 to 6:00 on Friday, March 31. On Saturday, April 1, from 9:00 – 4:00 everyone is invited to come and purchase some gently used books, movies and CDs and as well as delicious homemade baked goods. The Bake and Book Sale will continue from 10:00 to 4:00 on Monday and Tuesday, April 3 – 4, 2017.
The annual Lee Graham Relays will be held on Saturday, March 11th at the Mason High School track. Field events start at 9:00 a.m. Running events begin one hour after the field events are completed (around 12:45 p.m.). Teams currently entered: Mason, Brady, Comfort, Menard, San Saba, Junction, Center Point, Johnson City, Fredericksburg Heritage, Richland Springs, Cherokee, Nueces Canyon and Llano Christian Academy.
The Mason County Chamber of Commerce welcomes new member “Kolby the Texican.” Kolby Kothmann is the adventurous middle granddaughter of Sheba Kay and the late Karlos Bill Kothman of Mason, and the oldest daughter of Kenn and Kimberly Kothman of Sanderson. She holds a B.A. with honors in Communication from Sul Ross State University, and a passport full of stamps.
