This year will mark the 69th year for the Annual Easter Pageant, held at the Amphitheater under Lover’s Leap Hill in Junction. The three-hour long performance is always held Easter Eve, this year to be April 20, at dark-thirty. The Pageant is performed on the hillside with volunteer actors silently portraying the last days in the life of Jesus Christ while readers and sound effects are broadcast through the public address system at the Amphitheater. Every year people come from near an ...
Grab your boat, paddling gear and some chips and salsa and head for the South Llano River this Saturday. Last February, a truck carrying 42,000 pounds of avocados overturned into the South Llano River on Highway 377 above Junction. While many of the avocados and their plastic mesh bags were recovered at the site of the accident, many continued downstream and now litter the South Llano River. The Llano River Watershed Alliance is hosting the “Great Guac Grab” this Saturday, April 13, fro ...
It is time once again for the Edwards Plateau Historical Association meeting. This semi-annual meeting will take place on May 4, 2019, this time in San Saba, Texas. San Saba has hosted this group at least twice before since the EPHA’s inception in 1962, and more great stories of the region will be presented that day. In 2011, presenters told about the Fleming and Davenport families, the San Saba Treaty of 1851 and the Texas Ranger, Edgar Neal.
In March, kids painted shamrocks, read about “not-a-boxes” and learned a little about honeybees.  One week kids created bumble bee puppets they could use to race to find nectar, and another week they constructed cars, fire trucks, a garbage truck, and a building on fire from boxes.  Come hear an Easter story on Monday, April 15.  Storytime is held Mondays at 10:30 a.m.
I hope you had a nice rain. I don’t think it was enough to measure at our house. Reports were higher in the eastern part of the county. We will take any raindrops we get. We would love to get enough to wash some of the oak pollen away. The Lenten Lunch today is at St.

Here’s your chance to go see where the Llano River begins. The famed “700 Springs” are the 11th largest springs in Texas. They flow into the South Llano River from the bottom of a cliff located on the 700 Springs Ranch south of Junction. The date for 700 Springs Ranch Tour is Saturday, April 27, 2019.
Here’s the view from the porch of the really cool residence of Scott and Amelia Zesch. This home, affectionately called the Dog Run with a design that provides a view from the front door straight out to the Llano River, is the site of Pawtail IV, the 4th annual Second Chance Mason Animal Rescue fundraiser. Mark your busy spring calendar for Saturday, April 27 and come and enjoy the Taste of the Mediterranean.
Come hear the classic tale of The Hare and the Tortoise on Monday, April 8. Helen Ward’s version retells the famous race between the boastful rabbit and the persevering tortoise. In March, kids painted shamrocks, read about “not-a-boxes” and learned a little about honeybees.  One week kids created bumble bee puppets they could use to race to find nectar, and another week they constructed from boxes cars, fire trucks, a dump truck, and a building on fire. Storytime is held Mondays a ...
