It's been such a great year, started helping on a Habitat for Humanity house and it's been so heartfelt. From the new people I've met, worked with and now admire so much. Learning, and watching new building things, and the different kinds of far out tools.... It's been 11 years since we built our house, apparently I've missed the building.

Spring has sprung, and it’s time for the Mason County Habitat for Humanity Annual Spring Benefit. If you would like to support a great cause and have a really good time doing it, Mason County Habitat for Humanity has just the ticket(s) for you. This year’s Spring Benefit is on Saturday, May 18th, from 6 – 9 p.m.
Welcome May. Do you remember May Day festivals at school when we danced around the may pole? This involved the tether ball pole and lots of crepe paper. Some years we had costumes. I remember a swim suit costume with crepe paper wings that transformed us into butterflies. I hope students today have fond memories of elementary school that are not test related.

Hill Country Cattlewomen is hosting their 3rd Women’s Ranch Seminar on June 6th 2019 at the Gillespie County Farm Bureau Event Building in Fredericksburg, Texas. The Seminar will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. This year’s event is sponsored by Lyssey & Eckel Feeds, Gillespie County Farm Bureau, Capital Farm Credit, and the Texas Beef Council.
Hill Country Astronomers (HCA) will meet at 6:30 PM, Monday, May 6, in the HEB Activity Room at Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg.
Lindsay Fuller, Ph.D., will present “Exploring the Neighborhood of Supermassive Black Holes.” Dr. Fuller uses data from SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy), a 2.5 meter telescope that is mounted on a Boeing 747, to explore the material surrounding the black holes at the center of active galaxies.
The Department of Texas VFW Auxiliary sponsors a scholarship program to assist nursing students achieve their goals. Current nursing students, who will be seniors for the fall 2019-2020 school year can apply. The nursing student must be attending a Texas College or University, be an American Citizen and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
