Operation Orphans, Inc. will start its 59th season taking kids hunting Saturday, November 17. Over 50 boys are expected to participate. Seven foster and child residential facilities are planning to bring boys to hunt. The boys will be accompanied by volunteers who serve as guides. All guides will be subject to a background check and will have successfully completed a Hunter Safety Course.
In the middle of 2017, the Texas Legislature announced that legendary pianist, songwriter and vocalist Marcia Ball would be the official 2018 Texas State Musician. And, last month, October 25, Ball was inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame.
Now, fans can hear her live at the Odeon Theater in Mason, Texas Saturday November 17 at 7:00PM.

We have a beautiful new quilt on display in the Stribling Room of the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, 410 Post Hill Street! It belongs to Margaret Persky, who inherited it from her mother Mary Maude Hofmann McMillan.
Margaret’s grandmother Della Valliant Hofmann created it. Della was born on November 4, 1887.

During the regularly scheduled November 12 meeting, the Mason County Commissioners' Court continued discussing issues related to the flooding in October.
Road Supervisor, J. P. Murray, informed the court that he and the contractors they're working with have finished grading almost every road in the county. This now allows them to focus on some of the worst road situations that will require additional time and resources.
