The weatherman says the first freeze will be this week. I like fall. I’m not real fond of freezing weather in the winter. But, no one asked me what I wanted. The election is over. I am grateful that the name calling and viciousness is over. Now is the time to remove all signs from yards and fences.
All City of Mason facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday November 22 and 23 for the Thanksgiving Holidays. Trash trucks will pick up as usual Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (19th, 20th, and 21st). Thursday will be on Tuesday 20th and Friday will be on Wednesday 21st. Trash will resume back on normal schedule Monday November 26th.
Be our Guest! The fourth grade faculty and students at Mason Elementary would consider it a great pleasure if all of our Mason County veterans would join us for a luncheon on Monday, November 12th in the Mason High School Commons area followed by a program of celebration in the High School gym at noon. The luncheon will be from 11:00-11:45am.
The Community Thrift Store is offering a new service to the residents of Mason by recycling ink cartridges. The cartridge donations will be used to enhance the grants that are made to the community twice a year. The Mason Community Foundation and the Thrift Store appreciate the donations of household goods and ink cartridges that will enable additional grants in the future.
Storytime is held Mondays at 10:30 A.M. in the Kid’s Zone of the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, 410 Post Hill St. Children ages 2-6 are welcome and should be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Weekly stories are led by Carol Lampman, an elementary school teacher specializing in early childhood development. On Saturday, November 3 The Mason Square Museum celebrated a major milestone - 35,000 visitors! Congratulations to Eric and Christelle Tueur Dormeval from Cognac, France, pictured in the photograph. On hand to welcome our special guests were docent Kent Bruce and board member Alberta Birk. To show our appreciation, Eric and Christelle were presented with a $50 gift certificate to the museum gift shop.
The Mason County Republican Women will hold their bimonthly luncheon on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018, at 11:30 am in the Stribling Room at the Mason Library. Members and guests will gather at 11:30 am for meet and greet with the luncheon starting promptly at noon. Our distinguished speaker for the program is Senator Charles Perry who is currently serving in the Texas State Senate in Senate District 28.
The Llano Country Opry will be staged on Saturday, November 10, at the Lantex Theater in downtown Llano. The show will begin at 2:30 PM and admission is $15 per person. Tickets are now on sale at www.heartoftexascountry.com, the Llano Chamber of Commerce or by calling (325) 247-5354. Dion Pride the son of legendary Country Music Hall of Famer, Charley Pride, will headline the monthly show.
For the third time this fall, The Heart of Texas Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic (DRT) will host a well-known guest speaker, Carleton Kothmann of Menard. This next meeting will be on Monday, November 12, at the DRT Meeting Room at 113 North Church Street located on the West Side of Brady’s Court House Square.
There will NOT be an American Legion meeting on Thursday November 8, 2018. Social Club
