The first week of the year is usually a busy and often confusing period when there are a number of tasks to end one year and get the new year started in the right directions. Last week our County Judge, Jerry Bearden, did a great job of getting a change that I believe will positively impact our traffic around the square and through town.
Art was a busy place this weekend. Steve Toone and his Patriot Warrior Foundation had a large group of disabled veterans on area ranches hunting. The lunch on Friday was a combination of great food and good fellowship. The crowd was much larger than last year. My husband John was honored with a quilt of valor.

The City of Mason will be holding a City Election, Saturday, May 6, 2017. City positions up for election this year are: City Commissioner District 2 and City Commissioner District 4. Residents of the City of Mason who desire to place their name on the ballot for one of these positions may do so beginning Wednesday January 18, 2017 until Friday February 17, 2017.

Last Friday the JV Purple team traveled to Coleman to take on the Bluecats. Scoring was low for much of the first half as the score was 25-24 in favor of the Punchers. The game went back and forth for much of the second half until the Punchers were able to pull away late in the fourth quarter.
For the New Year, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) released the top 10 worldwide fitness trends for 2018, and Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center Director John Phelps said the local fitness and aquatic center offers them all.
